You probably marathoned it, or it was the only anime you were watching at the time.
The puppy slaughter did got to me though, even more than Mayu's rape by her foster father. And I don't even like dogs! If it were a kitten, then I would had been traumatized... I seriously like cats.
Lucy butching the hell out of those brats didn't get to me. I hated them, so I couldn't care less. Go Lucy! ^_^
Although the little girl didn't seem that bad of a person to me... At first. That little sneer she gave made me think otherwise though.

So let me guess... Lucy meets Kohta. She falls in love with him. Then Lucy meets Kohta's sister. Then Lucy kills Kohta's sister. Kohta is traumatized. Lucy feels regret. she runs away. And the "institution" finds her.
Pretty predictable. I'm sure it's going to go like that, if very similar.
PS: I didn't see no spoilers, nor anything of the sort, to come up with that. It's pretty plain from the begining.

this show is definately bringing out my emotions
i do like this show but i will not watch it again!
it's too emotional, and i dont want to see some parts again.

I was getting pissed at those kids when they were hitting the puppy,so I was glad when Lucy killed them. I will say this, this will be the first and last time I watch this series

Man the dog part got me angry. By looking into Lucy's past no one can just call her a cold hearted killer anymore. Humans like those little boys have made her into what she is in her future self, so I think its pretty natural for her to seek revenge.

I'm glad she killed them all after what they did to it.

man i was waiting for those dam kids to get wasted, im just happy kids don't do that stuff in real life......... i hope they don't lol.
im really enjoying elfen lied so far and im looking forward to more, very few anime make you feel this many emotions in a short amount of time

Those boys filled me with hatred. I was screaming in my head "KILL THEM KILL THEM!" I dont think i've ever felt that way before. I wasnt satified with how quickly they died though, it needed to be slow and painful. Make regret being born.

When I saw what happened to the dog I felt sick. I couldn't believe it. I don't know what it is but if it was a person being beaten up I wouldn't care but the fact it was the dog made me feel angry and pyschically sick.

Dang, mosy powerful ep yet. It was nice to see some Lucy backstory but damm!

There is something unnatural about this anime wich makes emotions'n'stuff not to be accepted by my mind. Something so simple and childish. I vote 3/5 as I did for several more episodes of this anime.

Those kids were psychotic! How could they do that to a puppy? So messed up!

Oh, I agree wholeheartedly.
I find this to be the best episode so far because it's the first time I've been genuinely touched.
But then again I'm mad that it's because of puppy torture & murder. Come on, honestly, there's nobody who wouldn't be affected by this and that is exactly what's getting on my nerves. Any show could use such horrid animal killing and everybody would be touched. So - no big deal.

All of this is too overkill-ish for me, but in a clumsy way. Lucy being bullied by kids in her childhood? I'm surprised!...not. Children beating a dog to death? Seriously, all the "bad people" are real epitomes of hatred and violence in this show, purely evil so that the audience HAS to loathe them. That's so tiring.

But I still think it's worth to keep watching it, so we'll see. Maybe the end will make up for all of that to me.

Wow...that...wow...Enjoyed the ep but I think this is the first time while watching anything where I've pretty much been speechless. I saw the girl telling the boys but wow..wow wow wow wow wow...

Yeah, that girl is a bitch. She betrayed Lucy by acting like her best friend, but the truth is, she isn't.

That dog scene was a bit shocking, almost seems far-fetched/unreal, some average freaking kids like that getting that kind of crazy look in their eye and beating a puppy to death with a vase? wtf mang lol. Actually, thinking about it alot in this anime seems too unreal, even for anime o.O After this i'm kinda put off from the show, finishing it anyway as i just want to get it over with at this point.

The dog scene shocked me beyond belief. I can't stand animal abuse. Those children were screwed up in the head, clearly. How evil.

I'm marathoning this series, and buh. This one got me big time, as just about EVERYONE has been saying. LOL. I was so happy when the kids 'sploded. Serves them right! The bloody classroom made me smile.

I was thinking that I will cry on this episode. But WTF i didn't i wasn't even surprised i wasn't even shocked. I was having almost no emotions. OMG i think when i was watching first series of this anime i wast so much emotional shocked that now i don't have any emotions :/ like all of my emotions was blocked! WTF?!?!?!
But of course this anime is great its masterpiece 10!
