THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
At first I thought that they all could've been Abnormal Survivors if they hadn't more or less thrown away their lives. But after all it looks like Chirico really was the only one.

I had to get used to this anime at first, but recently I've been looking forward to every new episode. The animation was quite impressive, the CG didn't stand out too much and was really well embedded into the normal anime animation we know. 7/10

What was up with the middle of the planet? They didn't really explain why everyone was hearing things when they went inside the core.

Also, almost all of them could have lived on if they didn't find out about the Abnormal Survivors thing. They totally ditched their past methods of survival and assumed they would be fine by taking on anything head on. O well, Chirico is the man in the end.

wow, a very open ending to the series.

I was quite disappointed that everyone besides Chirico died. But this piques an interest into the rest of the Votoms saga now. I'll definitely be checking out some of the other shows in the franchise.

As for the series as a whole, at first the show felt really slow filled with political mumbo jumbo but soon it warmed up to me, the CGI always felt a little cheap but towards the end of the series they certainly upped their efforts.

It was pretty good all in all, with a nice twist at the end of having the manipulators really being the manipulated. Neat to see the origin of Rochina who was so important in the original series. BTW, if you've watched the original you know the truth about Chirico's true status in re being an "abnormal survivor"

The only real downer for the show is that the CGI never meshed well with the cel animation.

Actually, I found them work really well together. I especially like the explosions in the artic areas. It's quite a unique feel.

It really helps if you've seen the series. I'll just say that.

Anyways, what a great prequel here. Kind of sad to see everyone die like that, but after the last episode I kind of saw it coming and since they don't appear later on in anything, I wasn't very surprised. It was pretty cool to see Pailsen again and I didn't really suspect that twist at the end, also kind of showed Luske going off to become "Rochina". His character was kind of a letdown in this I thought, he wasn't nearly as cunning or anything, but oh well.

The CG worked really well in this. I always prefer hand drawn, but it didn't take long to get used to the CG here. Great stuff.

Wonder how different the compilation movie will be.

Great ending. Really makes me want to see the original series again because I'm sure I missed some things. It's been too long since I've seen the original.

as an independant anime its way too short gives the feeling like its going at full speed to just reach the ending from some point but as a prequel to the 52 ep AT Votoms it works just fine and explain few things

I watched this as an independent anime and gave it a bad rating because of how rushed everything felt and shallow character development. 4/10
It was also really awkward to hear 80's synthesizer music as the background theme, which is just pathetic for anime airing in 2007-2008.

I agree that as an independent anime, it would seem a bit rushed and with lack development for the five main characters. But I guees since this is a prequel, it is not supposed to reinvent the wheel. But being that it is a prequel, I found it a good side story to supplement the longer series. It gives some nice background on the Rochina and gives a little bit of insight into some of Chirico's experiences earlier on.

They used it since it was in the original series too and after all it's just an OVA meant to tell about Chirico's past before the original series.
