Just keep watching.

Code Geass is fairly good too, but the endless narms makes me laugh my ass off. It's a good entry point into the anime world but most people look upon it less favorably when they've watched a lot of other things.

The problem with Monster is, that it's pace is pretty slow (especially in the beginning).

It just takes it's time developing the plot and characters. It doesn't give you awesomeness right away, it needs patience. But then it pays off later. Although not in an overly flashy way.

This is one of the shows where the viewer is required to put some thoughts into. It's not as shallow as most shows out there, where you can watch the episodes without paying much attention and still get what's going on. You have to actually think about what's happening. If you don't find shows like this enjoyable, then I'd say don't watch it. It just isn't the kind of show everyone likes. Nothing wrong with that.

Now with Code Geass it's kinda the opposite. All sorts of action going on right from the beginning and it's one of those show where you can just sit back and enjoy all the stuff that's going down. But going by your list you really haven't seen much anime, so maybe it's just really not your kind of show withh all the mecha battles and over the top melodrama. Again, nothing wrong with that. Don't like it, find something else to watch.

i absolutely know what you mean, the beginning of Monster seems rather slow and makes you want to rage, but trust me the story gets really good. I'm about 50 episodes in, and the only negative about it to me is that lots of they introduce alot new elements into show at a rapid fire pace that you need to keep up to appreciate the storyline.

The first two episodes of Monster are a little melodramatic. It took about 8-10 episodes for me to really fall in love with the series, and from then on it's just incredible.

But it's generally slow-paced and has a lot of side characters (who receive a lot of attention). You should definitely keep watching, you won't regret it.

Code Geass, I watched 3 episodes of and just didn't care for it. Maybe it got better but I wasn't liking what I was seeing.

I felt that the show was slow when it began. Character development is very important in the first quarter of the anime. It will definitely pick up the pace soon. When it does, you won't want to stop watching until the end.

I'm currently watching Code Geass and I'm enjoying it.

If you're not into slower paced shows then I don't think you'll like Monster. The story changes perspective quite often which is interesting, but it seems to lose focus with its main protagonist. Definitely a great show, but not everyone's cup of tea.

psychological shows key element is suspense, If you're bored within the first few episodes then you're obviously not watching it for the right reasons.

Yes. Absolutely. Definitely.

However it's a slowburn kind of show. It's an investigation story as much as its a cat/mouse kind of story. Every episodes has a very small piece of the overall puzzle. Some episodes are just there to ilustrate a certain trait of the characters. And there a lot of them and many of them have important roles to play.
