| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- So it was just basically an infodump of the history of the Grail War. Which basically is second knowledge to those who have read the VN. Disciple Zero voiced by Kanemoto Hisako was nice though. And Iri being all lovestruck to Kiritsugu was cute. Though this was what Nasu came up with? Really? |

| I think the more important part are the players of the side show, however. Since it's Irisviel, and Taiga (in her younger yhears). this is a call-back to the Taiga Dojo of the Fate/Stay Night, with Taiga even being called Student Zero (to Illya's Student 1 in Taiga Dojo). The poses and such that either people do mimic those in the Visual Novel's Dojo as well, since Illya's 'Osu!' and Taiga's are the exact same pose. I thought it was pretty cute, but also a good way to bring in information for people that might not have followed the visual novels or the light novel. |

Fate/Stay Night is pretty much locked as happenning in the 2000's (no specific year but that's the general decade) and Fate/Zero happens 10 years before so it has to be the 1990's. Not only that, in the anime itself we see Rider studying up on world leaders and he's clearly watching President Clinton give a speech.This caught my eye, the pic under the spoiler: Can anyone verify the date Iri mentions? | The Japanese script definitely says 「千九百八十年代」, or 「1980年代」 if you prefer. But yes, this is extremely odd, there are too many hints for 1990s in the anime proper for that to be true. |

| That was nice. And informative. I think they intentionally left some subject unanswered or wasn't telling whole truth to be expected. And as for the year... they are no mobile phones there that's more then enough to estimate the era (at least in original FSN). Edit: I haven't realized that was Taiga, well, that explains everything :) |

| Ah, I always look forward to Taiga dojo in the VN so this is a welcome surprise. Taiga's outfit tho... its much better than Illya's. There's one thing I never knew because they never mentioned it... the year! 1980?! That puts Fate/Stay Night in the 1990s… this is very educative. |

| So...Japan is the place where the Fuyuki Holy Grail War was held, because? They diverted attention from that question to saying, "Tohsaka owns the land," but wouldn't that followed by, "The other ley lines don't have enough spiritual energy," be a better explanation? I don't really see the point of choosing Japan over, most likely many other places which are ley lines for magic. Also, wouldn't creating bad relations between the three families be bad for all three? I don't know the specifics of what was happening before the First Holy Grail War, but, usually people wouldn't create a reason to fight while there was most likely wars, and fighting already around them. I mean, it was far in the past when this was happening. Potentially, one of the families could've gathered the necessary people to complete it by themselves in secret, or something. Maybe, a family could launch a sneak attack, and take over one of the other familiy's mages before it's finished. Not saying it wouldn't be possible for what happened to happen, but it does seem a little off to have them not have launched a single under-handed tactics to try to not make it a war in the first place. I haven't read the Visual Novels of Fate yet, so this may have actually happened. But I don't know. It should've been explained in here, if so, though. |

I heard once that the reason why the war is fought in Japan is a ploy of the Three Families to keep the Church and other mages away as far as possible. The reason for that is, well, spoilers. Use your imagination. |
