I remember after watching Bakemonogatari, it seemed as if Araragi and Senjougahara really fit well together.

However after reading the English translated version of Kizumonogatari, it seems as if the "lover" relationship between Araragi and Senjougahara just doesn't make sense in the grand scheme of things after what happened in Kizumonogatari between Araragi and Shinobu.

I guess I should be a little more specific. It doesn't make sense because Araragi in a sense already committed to living for/with Shinobu for the rest of his life. It doesn't seem to be consistent with Araragi's character to also make a commitment to Senjougahara.

Does anyone else feel this way?

Senjougahara is a romantic commitment, Shinobu isn't. They have very different relationships that can coexist.

Just because he's committed to Shinobu doesn't mean he can't date a girl he's into. This is Ararararagi we're talking about. He has unusual relationships with girls. They all understand this on some level. It's not like he's in love with Shinobu. They're just connected.

Shinobu does bring that up. She said something along the lines of "long after your lover, friends, and everyone you know die, we will still live".

that's right. haven't read Kizumono, but in Nisemono she makes it clear she doesn't care what he does because he'll always be hers since everyone he loves will be dead long before he's lived out his existence.

if anything it's hanekawa that somehow was overlooked. Shinobu is just a life long friend to Araragi and person he doesn't want to feel responsible for their death.
