After a (much too long) hiatus, we are proud to announce the return of MAL's Fantasy Anime League for the Spring 2012 season! All MAL users are encouraged to participate in the ninth season of FAL.

If you're new to FAL, then start by reading this introduction thread.

Then, to get started on the road to FAL, rules and registration can be found here.

Make sure to also join the Fantasy Anime League club for notifications on all future updates.

I'd like to thank Luna_ for spearheading this effort and making all of this possible! Also, Kimura and Naru who helped a lot. I did little, heh.

predicting the most popular anime each season... might be good way to promote anime more like anime that are awesome but are not well known

I remember participating for the first time in the eight season, and I'm really glad you're back! I recommend everyone to participate, as it is really fun!

Though, looks like theres less than a week to register and I'm only familiar with a couple series on that list. I guess I should do a little research soon.

Based on my current preferences I think I have no chance of winning, haha.

so i read all the stuff i need to know, and im still a bit confused, so i need som clarification.
1. you need to choose 5 active shows and two bench shows (what are bench ones?)
2. submit it to FALBot in a specific fashion. (what should the subject be when sending it?)
3. more of a question, where do we go to see whats goin on and such?

I think it's alright if I explain that if I didn't get it wrong, you can also find the explanation if you click on the bench series link.
You choose your 5 active series based on the assumption that they would be doing well but let's say, one doesn't. Then you can swap it with one of your bench series and hope that it does better. It's like some kind of joker so that you don't start bad right from the start.

I'm curious about this, too. Where are the weekly results going to be posted.

2. It doesn't really matter but you can write something like "Registration" and add your username.
3. Results will be posted on the FAL board and additional information in the FAL club. If you join the club you'll find all updates there with links to the corresponding threads (including result threads).

Oh, I've heard so much about this. Seems awesome, I'll definitely partake in it.

I'm glad this is back.
I don't ever participate but I like watching others go at it.

New to this ... joined :P

This sounds pretty interesting especially in a season with so many potential hits.
Maybe I will give it a try.
