THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Alot more action this time around, but im getting the feeling that the protagonist and the heroine are kinda useless. Bainas and Gido seem to be the interesting people in this show. |

Well I'm a bit confused what went on there. Was Esmeraldas gambling on whether they'd risk that pale chick's life? |

That took me back to every WW2 submarine movie ever made. It looks like we might find out just why they are pursuing Maya next episode. In my next life I want to collide at the corner with the cute transfer student carrying a piece of toast in her mouth......rodac Must...not...feed...trolls.... |

definitely this is growing on me - didn't really see a whole lot of matsumoto's flavor in episode 1, but i'm definitely seeing it now....bainas is the esmereldas-type character and maya is the maetel look-alike - seems matsumoto uses recurring character types similar to osamu tezuka - can't wait for episode 3 - i'm a sucker for sci-fi with desert planets! |

Whelp, so boring. So much action yet so little tension. 2/5 "There is a road in the hearts of all of us, hidden and seldom traveled, which leads to an unknown, secret place." |

I found the concept of diving under the sand quite interesting. Now the question is what Maya's true nature is since she doesn't seem to be human. Also, am I the only one who thinks that Gido Gairaa, the masked man, bears a striking resemblance to the person on the photograph next to Bainas? Could he be Sam's father after all? |

The anti-sandsubmarine fight was very nice.....i rly liked it... BUT....i think that Sam is REALLY useless....i hate that kind of protagonists....after the first ep i was thinking that he has some kind o special skill of ability that lets that submarine under the sand.....or he is smart tactician....but this whole episode he was only sitting in cafeteria, drinking water and fanning that chick.....totally useless.....when there was that big ass tight fight.... |

Wow I really enjoyed the whole technical undersand "naval" battle. This is like some kind of Last Exile in the sand with alot more strategical technicalities. The combat part had me holding my breath for the entire time. I'm just sad that this anime is only 6 episodes long. I really enjoy this kind of strategical combat, feels like those war movies that actually stick close to history. |

I had same feeling about it - and I loved it :) all tactics used to find the submarine - plus they were actually thinking there (it reminds me of Pirates and probably it may be disliked for same reason :P but who cares it's awesome). again writing awesome character design so old-school but what's with that map o.O Germany 1813?! ok it's acurate but what it's doing there (unless it's souvenir than ok) and here a bit bigger - nice to see both Poland (well kind of) and my own city XDDDD Modified by Dalek-baka, 03-25-12, 11:40 AM |

Enjoyed the strategic battle immensely. The 2 main characters are kinda meh but the supporting characters are stellar. I look forward to finding out why Maya is so important (hopefully next week) The Captian is a boss! |

This reminds me too much of CSI:Miami... the Captian does the jobs of each specialist better than them, e.g. can understand sonar echos better than the trained specialist, just as H. can see things before those on his team. In reality, specialist should excell their managers, that's why they are specialists! Also, pace was too slow for this one... I'm gonna leave it on hold for a while. |

Outstanding direction in this episode and the overall background is truly fantastic (well, Ryousuke Takahashi's co-directing a Liji Matsumoto project, so...).Too bad the budget's not up to all this awesomeness. |

You didn't seriously expect an inexperienced teenager to assume the role of tactician or have some random mystical power in science fiction of this caliber, did you? It would be pointless to throw techno-babble if you used a completely unrealistic setting such as this. Needless to say, it works for stuff like Code Geass because they have another focus and approach. Well, I don't care much about him either, but at the very least he stayed in his place and let the episode flow nicely without interruptions. Seriously, most shows waste too much potential focusing on how awesome the main character is or will be. The setting is wonderful and I'm loving the crew thus far, so keep at it! |

I don't really like long faces as in this anime but there is something in it that encourage me to watch it ; ). Signature removed. Please follow the signature rules, as defined in the General Forum Guidelines. |

It's so detailed, I mean using all this terminology. I enjoy watching it, even if i don't understand these words, at least I get the basic idea of what's happening. But it would finish rather early with just those 6 episodes. I'm giving this episode 9/10 ^^ |
