Natsume I consider as one of my top 3 favorite anime, I never had a chance to read the manga and I do not think it enough to have a fifth season but the manga still this on-going, so I hope for a fifth season! :D

If you want to support the anime and have a decent knowledge of Japanese, hop on the Japanese Amazon site and import the whole manga series, there's even a link for volumes 1-17. Volume 18 was just released as well, always a good sign when they keep coming out. For those in the know, the manga has furigana for most of the Kanji as well.

I personally believe there will be another season to cover up everything in manga when it ends.

Best scenario for me is the fifth season airs when the manga almost ends, then final episode and final chapter comes out at almost the same time, lastly we get one OVA for final farewell. Ah please don't mind me, I've been drowning too long in seas of Natsume and Nyanko-sensei. XDD

Yea, it's over 3 years after end of Natsume Yujinchou Shi and hmm i'll tell like most fans of this series: I hope 5th season will release this year.

5th seasons are so rare, I'm not even sure if one exists (obviously long running shounen don't count). It still manages around 10k with barely any drop in sales at all from season to season, so it will probably happen though. Quite the loyal fanbase.

I realy hope for a season 5 since the manga it self is still far from over.i believe there is still more to show in this anime. Like more on Reiko and her child or more on Matoba and Madara's(nyanko sensei) story etc. if the anime ended just like this (S4 epi 13) then it will leave a lot of fans confuse and demanding an answer.

Defining winter as Jan-March and summer as Jul-Sep

Natsume Yuujinchou was Summer 2008
Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou was Winter 2009 (there was a one season gap between the two)
Natsume Yuujinchou San was Summer 2011 (Around 1 and a half years after Zoku)
Natsume Yuujinchou Shi was Winter 2012 (another one season gap)

If the pattern continued, we would have gotten another season summer 2014 - instead, we got an OVA winter 2014.
I'm hoping for another season announcement since it's been over a year since the OVA came out now.

((MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS OF SEASON 1-4?? ALSO A LONG READ.))

Learning about his grandmother and also the book of shadows felt left behind after a while. Like the anime wasn't putting enough back story for something that started with Reiko from the very beginning of the season. (A demon was looking for Reiko and assumed Natsume was her (of course) so I feel they should be putting more back story on her since.. After all it did technically start with Reiko.

More information on the Book of Friends is needed: since it's only explaining 'how' his grandmother would gather names for a book by defeating them instead of 'why'. Other than the book being a huge hint, there's also that gap of why she never came to visit them after taking their name. At least natsume visited some and kept his promise. which also makes Reiko look... Ahem. Like a rude person despite her possibly having a good explanation. which. Again. Does need to be explained.

Other than her always being alone which clearly she wasn't if she has a grandson.
I don't want to feel like his grandmother is a jerk for never calling the youkai, just leaving them wondering, looking for her to get their name back because they felt abandon by her which apparently as some youkai would state, she never came back to visit them once.

I don't think i'm supposed to be angry with the character Reiko, yet I find myself just irritated and want to know her excuse for never coming back to the youkai. It's not even a book of friends if she doesn't see them again. She had something going on that the anime isn't spilling yet. I need to read the manga which i'm trying to make the time for it since tomorrow i'll have all day to read manga. (i'm the type that once i watch anime and go to manga i have to start over on the manga. Idk why that is. It just makes it harder for me to get back to where I was on the anime. Curses.)

Then there's why he didn't question those who gave him the book left behind from his grandmother: why they had it to begin with. There was the story of his parents which I was happy to know about that since I was wondering that for a long time after season 1. Which again doesn't make sense why these people had his grandmothers book of friends. I'm really hoping i just missed something since i"m re watching season 1-4 again.

That's like if Inuyasha was complete ((Spoiler???? Also it is complete. This is just an example.) but they never found all the pieces to the shikon jewel and just continued to try to find it but never did which has the viewer guess and question and then google for the answers they seek.

possible if there is enough material, Omore just finished Drrr and that was 3 cours and most likely Aniplex is also producing it.

Well to be honest I really don't take their word as absolute. I also don't tend to actively look for anime news so I do not know if ANN has had a history of occasionally misreporting information. I will keep what you said in mind about ANN next time I read something on their site if I can't find another site independently reporting similar news.

I think your word of caution was somewhat reasonable since I went back and saw that no other site (at least among the American ones) was reporting it independently without citing ANN. With that being said there has thankfully been a JP source found showing a scan of a page about Natsume season 5, http://otakomu.jp/archives/363516.html . They have also already proceeded to add the MAL page for it as well http://myanimelist.net/anime/32983/ .

Yea I know. I've been liaising with the news mods on this too but it's always good to not take their words as it is. Well, letting my hatred for the site aside(since I never visited their site again), it's always good to cross-check sources.
