I have a feelings this is gonna be a sad ending.

Wait, so by finding this one place from Ichika's memories it will promote Earth from a Level-F civilization to a higher level and that in turn might might make Ichika able to stay on Earth? I wonder what this place is and why it's so secret and important.

DAMMIT, CANT WAIT FOR THE LAST EPISODE, BUT I DON'T WANT IT TO END ALREADY!!!

i really wonder what's up with remon. :/// she really does seem to know more than she looks, i mean all the beasting couldn't have been from ichika's sister alone

and HELLZ YEA, EVERYONE (even kanna) STOPPING THE DRONES FROM CATCHING ICHIKA
(MIO AND TETSUROU FTW!!!!)

I REALLY REALLY REALLY HOPE THAT ICHIKA DOESN'T GET TAKEN BACK TO SPACE Dx

...but the damn preview may say otherwise T-T

That, OR it would allow Kaito to travel with Ichika and her sister, That could also be the case for the title of the next episode, everyone could be waiting on them to return next summer, and they might be waiting to see everyone again on Earth. That's how it BETTER go if she has to leave >_> or i'ma be pissed.

you have 11 episodes of hope and change and love and friendship all leading up to .. bitter sad disappointment - what a grand way to more or less nail the coffin shut for anything related to ratings for anything related to the onegai franchise and this is heavily related

If like other users say "forced away for a time and returns" that would be basically Sensei's end~ which was more or less considered 'happy ending'

I'm also expecting the story to come full circle with either a confirmation this is the same "Onegai" universe with the special place being Lake Kizaki, or even a brief cameo of Mizuho and Kei

Owow is there anything Remon hasn't got covered? Lmao at the truck entrance/multiple licenses thing. As much as I thought Ichika's sister coming to Earth would kill the show for me, it sets up a pretty interesting ending. This show has improved overall with each episode in my view, looking forward to the finale.

I wouldn't be so quick to say that... I think the pacing in Toradora is better than in this, but that's probably because Toradora has more episodes.

Bit disappointing that this anime didn't have much of a Si-fi theme to it.
They could of made it that Ichika is a runaway from another country and the story wouldn't have made much of a difference.

I'm guessing that this place they are finding is someones grave or something, judging by the narration part at the start of ep 1.

I swear if I watched a drama filled romance with them fighting to be together just to end up apart. Well lets just say a piece of my sanity will be gone and i'll have to take a large break from romance. Lets hope this plays out well and not bittersweet ;_; .

I don't expect happy endings from everything. Though when you spend so much time on two characters, and just throw it away at the end with some stupid "We will never forget our time together" It's like a freaking cop out. Sorry but those endings are not my thing.

Troll? Whatever you say...seems like you're only calling me that because you disagree with me.

I just think it's dumb when people stress way too much importance on the ending rather than the story as a whole.

Not to mention I'm pretty sure the ending won't let you down as much as you think. Ichika isn't just going to disappear forever...

I don't like it either when things don't go perfectly, but there is merit to every story as long as it's well executed.

I hope so.....I have faith in the person behind Onegai, and J.C. Staff hasn't let me down yet....Although their intentions with Zero is questionable after the latest episode....J.C. is one of my favorite anime companies, so i really hope that the ending has a nice climax, and hope the ending isn't so bittersweet.....As it's been stated before, there is a reason things are "typical", because it works. If the ending was a "Typical happy ending" then it would make this series great, the ONLY reason that surprise endings work like "Oh we just killed all the characters" is because the story was built up to that point, something like this however was just thrown at us.

Someone else likes J.C. Staff... nice :)
I also think it will be happy ending - come on! after all what has happened to go with different direction, it would be really weird. Or they might give something which looks like bittersweet but in reality is full blown happy ending.
But what I saw in preview - they might go for Kai going with Ichika to her home.

Of course this regards our main couple - but personally I got my happy ending with Tetsuro asking out Mio :D
of course it would be much better if they would be able to do it for all, but I am satisfied already.

"No matter how much it hurts, no matter how much it lessens the chance of them being with their beloved, these six friends always do what is best for one another. If nothing else, I think that’s why this show is amazing. Friendship, through thick and thin, no matter how weak or hopeless each of them are alone. A beautiful love story. A beautiful friendship story."

This aspect of the show is must as much / even more important than who ends up dating who. If the only thing you're concerned with is the ending, then you might as well just watch stuff like Amagami SS

While I think you are correct with some of what you said this show focused heavily on the romantic aspects.

first: LEMON WAS SO BADASS IN THE EPISODE!!!
second: the SS MioXTesturo is well underway
third: I love kanna's character. She fights, not because she wants Kaito but because she wants Kaito to BE HAPPY. Strong girl with a heart of gold. I'd hug her to pieces.
fourth: Sensing a bitter, or bittersweet ending for KaitoXIchika. I could live with the latter, but the former would make me a sad panda :(
I want Rambo in a mecha-suit with a laser-chainsaw gun that fires nuclear warheads, fighting the love-child of Predator, Alien, a group of Bangladeshi terrorists, and Satan. (Actually that would be a pretty sick show) - StopDropAndBowl

mmm, but like I said earlier, I feel like the ending won't be a definitive good / bad ending. At the very least, the characters will gain something from their journey and their experiences and I think that's good enough.

I know it's a very cliche saying, but : "It's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all."

Getting hurt in the end does not mean the past was for nothing. I think there's a good lesson in that. There are already plenty of animes where the ending has the mentality of "as long as you try your best, you get what you want." If Ichika does end up never coming back, Kaito and the rest of them will cherish the memories they had, and I think that's beautiful.

I never said it was going to be a bad ending if it's bittersweet. Nothing wrong with me or anyone else hoping for it to end happily though.

I have seen enough anime where the characters "learn something" personally i picked this one up specifically to be an interesting romance.

Haha, I've been a J.C. fan since Zero, and I watched Shana a few months after i finished Zero and absolutely fell in love with J.C., After watching Index i was really happy with my choice, and Toradora =), i loved that story, and especially loved the bridge scene, very well done. J.C. just has really amazing art in my opinion, and i haven't seen an anime made by them yet that i've disliked.

Although like i said before, Zero is coming to it's final episode this week, as well as Shana.....So we'll see how it all pans out and i hope J.C. delivers =). With this anime, i have high expectations of a happy ending, so if they just pull a full one eighty turn, it'll really be disappointing honestly.....I wont even be satisfied even if she CAN return albeit "Next summer" that's not a happy ending. I know i'd hate to be separated from someone i loved for a WHOLE YEAR.

As with Happy endings, that's not all i go for.....I loved Basilisks ending...It was amazing, and the studio that made it pulled it off REALLY well, Even if something has an ending that is bittersweet, i wouldn't mind as long as the entire momentum throughout the series was build up to it (Kinda like Guilty Crown). If you pull something out of your hat JUST because it's different from the "norm" then chances are it's not going to turn out very great. Most people tend to not like twist endings, especially on a series where they've learned to like the characters. This works with Hollywood movies because you're only allowed an hour or so for character development and people aren't quite attached to that character, sure it's surprising but it's more like "Meh, they died....Shocking....Was a good movie though".

I dunno, when I saw the PV pre-season, I could already tell the ending wasn't going to be one where everything was resolved. Maybe it was just the overall atmosphere, melancholy.

If you're okay with bittersweet then I think it'll be fine.

Oh I knew it wouldn't end perfectly gushing happy for everyone. I am not personally okay with bittersweet but out of all the anime I have seen I would say two out of three shows end that way. So in all honesty it's just as unexpected or nice for it to end happily. Especially with the romantic build up.

Well for an anime pretty much based solely on romance, I think it's pretty unique to not have the main couple have the happiest of endings. I know lots of animes that have romance tied into them, but out of all the "romance" animes I've seen, the characters are usually "together" by the end.

Either way, to me the ending won't really change my opinion of this show.

I would choose happy ending over anything else everytime :) that's maybe why i don't have so much of sad anime on my list.
Good... I like J.C. for their older works: Azumanga, Potemayo, Someday Dreamers - they are good. Plus this season AnoNatsu and Milky Holmes
What I think about ending is, they will pull of something like they did in Toradora

Even so, if you think bittersweet romance shows are unique you need to see more then.

I didn't really explicitly say that romance animes didn't have bittersweet endings. I just see a lot of them ending up being a couple somewhat. I'm sure ano natsu will be the same. There will be distance between Ichika and Kaito but nevertheless they'll most likely be "together." But yeah, it's true, I don't gravitate towards purely romance animes, but how many of them end up heartbreaking? (5 cm per second)
