Hachirota's dad is a funny guy. I wonder what Hachirota is thinking off, is he going to join the Jupiter team?

God, Hachi's dad is a bastard. I can't believe his mom would stay with him. His drive and personality (like the leader of the Von Braun project) is good for advancements for humanity, but Jesus, seriously. Hachi's mother should seriously have an affair. Oh well, I'll never understand women like her... such a one-sided love affair.

Like Father like Son!
Traveling to Jupiter takes 1 1/2yrs + 7yrs + 1 1/2yrs going back
Mr. Locksmith just thinking of his own dream.. I think Goro accepted the job to reduce more casualties

Complicated moves from both Hoshino's!

Looks like Hachi really wants to go on the Jupiter mission and Tanabe's being sidelined for it. Awwwwww......

Yeah, except Jupiter's a gas giant, so they wouldn't even have rocks to show for it. lol.

I wonder if that meant that Hacimaki would also pick space over anything else like his dad. I guess I'll find out at the end.

Yeah . . . I'm rooting for the romance in this series, so I kind of don't like the direction this series was taking this episode. Hachi was kind of seeming like his relationship with Ai was only secondary to what he wants to do (which in itself isn't necessarily selfish), but he seems to be stringing her along as if he isn't currently trying to get on a mission that will separate them for 7 years, after dating for less than two. If those are his plans, as much as I would hate to see it, he should probably break-up, although I am praying that isn't how this anime turns out.

I felt bad for the mom. The guy didn't seem to care that he's been gone for so long and now much longer when he goes to Jupiter.

The Von Braun project.. What a evil little man he was. The inventor of the V2 rocket that killed 100s in Britan and 1000s of Jews making it. And the US treat him as some sort of hero.

Sometimes I wonder at humanity.

We get to know Hachis father, I believe he was called Gomo. He is a very expertised astronaut who went to mars missions five times already. Because of that he is a wanted man for the upcoming Jupiter mission with the Von Braun Spacecraft.

However that mission would take 7 years to complete. His family and wife will be lonely without him, so he isn't sure if he should take the offer.

Locksmith-san who is the man behind the Jupiter mission is repsonsible for an accident on the moon with the engine of the Von Braun. Several people were killed but Locksmith-san is just being calm and collected. For his success he seems to take any road necessary.
I have written my own Ecchi short story. It is called Nopan Mahou Shoujo!

i really don't like how this show is always comparing loved ones to big dreams. both are important, you don't put one over the other.

with each episode i dislike Hachi more and more. i feel kind of bad for Ai, i really hope she gets a chance to do something space-related rather than focus on being a girlfriend because obviously Hachi doesn't put her first. or at least it doesn't sound like it

Hachi's father though, funny old man with some wisdom is a stereotype that never grows old. feel bad for his wife...

and i really don't like the Locksmith guy, never been a fan of the heartless characters

oh yikes totally forgot about that old man who has cancer...Hachi will be so pissed at Ai for not telling him, i can already picture it

I really didn't care for this one. Powerful people get away with awful things all the time, it's not exactly a profound statement to make. Also, I imagine an unpredictable person like him would be really bad for business in a capitalist system. Taking risks is one thing, blowing up labs on purpose, especially with employees in it is a ridiculous extreme.

This character is just a smug, one-dimensional villain, there's no intrigue about him. We're told he's a genius but his actions hardly reflect that. We didn't see him, for example, carefully plan out anything or cleverly twist words to bend people to his will. A genius like him who simply gets away with anything for no other reason besides being powerful does not make for an impressive character.

"Don't sign for the project! What if his next little game happens to kill you next?"

"No, you don't understand! I have to, because SPACE!"

Why is nobody talking about the dead of the ninja dudes? Man that was so fucking sad. They finally got a job to end up this way.

There was a lot going on this time. Claire was "relieved" from her job because she has been making mistakes, but she is just tired of/disgusted with it, she wasn't comfortable anymore being in a privileged position when people who are pretty much like her, are ostracized, even when they have talent and capacity, simply because of where they came from.

Hachimaki's father also makes an appearance, and it turns out he is a really important figure in space. I didn't expect it to be honest, and even though he ran away at first he decided to join the journey to Jupiter. He also might have made Hachimaki decide to put his dream before anything else so this might mean some turbulence in his relationship with Tananbe.

But that Locksmith guy is insane too, his lack of humanity, empathy, and his selfishness were all pretty much clear, more than 300 people might have died, and he didn't even bat an eye or took it seriously. I guess that even the ninjas became victims, just when they had finally found a job too... It's really depressing.

This was good, much better than the previous episode. Hachimaki's dad, Goro is quite the character, definitely the most interesting support character of the show so far and furthermore, man I can see where Hachimaki gets his attitude from. Seeing them communicate and argue against each other truly runs in the genes (even Kyutaro's like that). Good to see him join the Von Braun project though.

Reject humanity, aim for Jupiter

Ishizuka was a perfect fit for Locksmith. What a voice actor.

hachimaki's father is more or less how i thought of him, though i find his voice cast little more serious than what his character show.

i feel bad vibes about hachimaki x tanabe. next episodes' name kinda confirms it.

That press conference was fucking wild haha.

Its gonna break my heart if Tanabe gets shot down, I really wanna see Hachi and Tanabe stay together but they've barely done anything their whole relationship so far, and Tanabe is pretty naive so I could see her getting strung along quite a long ways.

Hoping Hachi doesn't end up a cold bastard like his dad, yikes

Definitely the most thought-provoking episode so far. Mister Locksmith's attitude may seem abominable at a glance, but only time will tell how truly he's committed to his ideals. A megalomaniac, or an unwavering visionary? Just as easily as he may appear heartless, his idea of taking responsibility could be to ensure that those deaths were not in vain.
