Speaking in the abstract, not about one specific show - Why not? It's most important to the people who make money off of it, but it's also important to the fans. Good sales = higher likelihood of more of it, or more like it, being made = good for fans who want to see more of it, or more like it. This is why I import anime. It makes me happy when something I like is successful. I'm not going to throw a party, but it's still a good feeling. I think that's entirely rational. Gikari said: Nope. But 500 x 40000 = figure out how much it is. I am more surprised by the sales, actually. I did expect high sales, but not 40k+ from the first weak. Plus, we are not done yet. People sure will buy this later, too. Not like F/Z doesn't deserve it tho, I am happy it sells well in Japan. Now I can safely assume that they will do a decent second season. I guess whether one is surprised depends on how closely one follows preorder rankings and such. This is almost exactly what the Amazon Ranking Stalker estimates predicted for this release. And yes, it's definitely good money. ¥39900 * 42,690 = ¥1,703,331,000. At current USD/JPY exchange rates, that's $20,369,704.67. Figure the production committee takes 46% of MSRP (the latest number bandied about from that ANN article) after retailer cut and paying royalties and that's about $9.4 million. Even with Fate's high production values that's got to be a very very nice profit margin. It'll probably get to around 50k total. BUY YUYUSHIKI BDS ALL DAY EVERY DAY |

Was it by some famous mainstream act... ::checks:: Ah, some idol group that's had pretty good success in the past. That makes more sense. I'm one of them who bought that cd...haha... ♥ The video is cute! Modified by Hellhammar, 03-14-12, 12:20 PM |

I think that's entirely rational. I agree :) plus a bit irrational, in my case, happiness to see some number and knowing that you are one of those people. Yeah weird but I like it :) So onto figuring, once again how that system works (and crossing fingers that Pirates will make good sales so no brain in production will try to alter it, so it will be "more appealing"). |
