Well I was browsing through net to search for discussions on this question. Some discussions say that probably not soon. Some say this is a Josei genre getting an anime for this genre itself is kinda rare.

Currently this season has got only 3 episodes left. And as all might have already understood by now this show is far from over yet. There are so many things left still- Chihaya's journey to become the queen, Tichi making it Class A and competing with Arata, Arata's matcheswith other Class A players are also to be seen, the love between Chihaya, Taichi and Arata, Oe, Komano and Nishida's tactical plays and their groth as Karuta Players, More team tournaments..... I just hope there will be a second season of Chihayafuru and soon so that the continuation of this awesome anime can be maintained.

What are your opinions?

I hope so but given its poor financial performance I wouldn't be surprised were it just abandoned.

I hope for a second season too but the possibilities for another season depends on how successful the anime is doing in Japan.

I think we all knew nothing was going to be wrapped up in 24 episodes though. It's kind of like Koshien and baseball anime - They never get there until their final year of school.

I am sure it will not not get 2 season and not in 2012! but the story is going to end now without Chihayafuru being queen .

This anime serves to boost the sales of Chihayafuru manga. As long as the manga is still ongoing, there could be as many seasons of the anime as needed to promote it.

That's if they consider it needs any more promotion besides just a single season, of course.

So it could have like, 3 more seasons. Or 10. Or none.

They must show more Shinobu! I don't mind second season at all!

Whether or not we get a second series depends on one of these two factors:
1. Has the anime increase the manga sales significantly enough
2. Does the Blu-rays of the series sell well enough to warrant a second season.

I believe the answer to both is a no, so the chance of getting a second season is very small. ;\

Recently, Chihayafuru was one of the few Josei to be animated that had a bit of popularity then I think there are still good possibility for a second season.

I am praying it does!! And I will buy the manga if it's not already released in the US...is it??

plus it has had terrible sales. Not like other josei's but still bad. But, hey, if the anime did well enough as an advertisement for the manga, then it might get a 2nd season. I'm looking at you Bakuman

I totally agree. Haha, the Japanese really are a bunch of retards and virgins. Maybe a bit rough there, but what the hell... Silly stuff like the things mentioned above are the things that sells the most, sadly. xD

I wish it would get a season 2! It freakin' DESERVES IT! (Unlike alot of stupid shows that got a season 2. >_>)

Chihaya is AMAZING!

And I want to see Chihaya make it to Queen! >:D
( And if she doesn't end up with Arata or Taichi in the end of season 1, we HAVE to have a season 2 so we will know if she does go out with one of them! >_<)

It really pisses me off that utter gems like Chihayafuru have almost no chance of getting a season 2 whereas stuff like Yuru Yuri gets one...

Hmm, as someone who loves both Chihayafuru and Yuru Yuri, I'm quite puzzled. Yuru Yuri had around 8-9k sales per volume. Chihayafuru has 2-3k. So yes, shows that pander do well. Surely you aren't forgetting that UtaPri is getting a 2nd season as well?
