THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
The main girl (Kuroi?) is depressed. Wow @ BRS's change(?).

The counselor is blaming the main girl's friend for bringing her to that world to BRS, because she's scary, too.

The counselor is involved and knows about the alternative world, because she knows the "previous Kuroi", who feels painful feelings all the time. (Wow, young counselor sounds like Sawako because of the same seiyuu). They were friends in the real world, and enemy in alternative world), a.k.a previous Gold Saw.

Is Kuroi's friend actually previous "Kuroi"?

Takanashi is well now.

Mato, surrounded by the blue flame, is freaking out about killing Yomi. It looked like BRS stabs herself, and officially transforms into Insane Black Rock Shooter. Black Gold Saw appears, and they begin to fight. BGS slices her arm, and IBRS rips it off – Mato screams in pain, before passing out. IBRS and BGS continue to fight, and STR shows up and drags Dead Master off.

Yomi is asleep at her desk, and wakes up, confused at why she is asleep there.

Yuu is still with Mato; she tries to wake Mato up, but it’s not working.

Saya, inside her apartment asks “Why, Black Rock Shooter?” Her doorbell rings, and it’s Yuu with Mato on her back, tearfully she asks Saya “What do I do?”

Inside Saya’s apartment, Saya slaps Yuu. She asks Yuu why she did what she did. Saya says something about Dead Master. She goes to strangle Mato again, but she can’t do it.

Saya talks through BGS to Mato (who is still IBRS). She has BGS chain IBRS to a pillar, to talk some sense into her.

Flashback: Saya met Yuu on her way to school (as a student). Yuu walked off of the school grounds in a bathing suit, dripping wet. Saya calls to her, but Yuu ignores her. She grabs Yuu’s arms and takes her back to her home. Looks like Yuu had a bad home life. Saya wants to be friends, and they begin to hang out. Playing video games, etc.

Saya’s mom tells her that Yuu’s house is on fire. Saya runs to her house.

Real-time: Saya and Mato are both passed out in Saya’s apartment; Yuu is crying.

Flashback: Yuu burned down her house? Saya is running after the ambulance Yuu is in, saying she is sorry (I didn’t catch why she is apologizing)

Saya goes back to school, and then to Yuu’s burned down home. She finds Yuu at the riverbank (where Mato found her), and Saya apologizes to her. Yuu tells her about the Other World, and tells Saya she is “Black Gold Saw”.

Real-time: IBRS breaks the bonds that are holding her against a pillar, and goes back on the attack. Saya (still talking through BGS, and is not fighting) asks Mato to listen to her, but she doesn’t. STR interferes before IBRS can kill BGS. She takes BGS, to what looks like the middle of the Other World, with IBRS following. STR seals BGS off from IBGS.

Saya wakes up and freaks out about why IBRS/Mato didn’t listen to her. She starts to cry, and Yuu comforts her. In her mind, she apologizes to both Saya and Mato/BGS. STR takes on the role to destroy IBRS.

Credits roll: Yomi walks into her classroom. Her hair is in braids (it looks like), and she looks happy. Kagari (who is with her group of friends) approaches her, but Yomi seems indifferent to her, so Kagari walks back over to her friends, who ask her what’s wrong, but Karagi just talks to herself and asks “Why?"

Yomi is sitting in the courtyard of the school, and it looks like she deletes Mato from her phone.

PREVIEW FOR EPISODE 7: IBRS and STR fight.

Because she thought Yuu was the one who set her house on fire. But it wasn't Yuu, so Saya feels that she betrayed Yuu by not trusting her.

It gets more and more crazy but I love it. When all eight episodes are out I will have to watch it again.

If the "other" girls bear the pain of Mato, Yomi etc., isn't it wrong that the "other" girls try to kill each other or at least BRS tries it because when they are gone who will bear the pain? Is that the point of Mato saying at the end it's so wrong and why the hell did Yomi delete Mato's messages, is it because Mato caused her pain?

No, BRS began a killing rampage because she was overloaded by Mato's pain. It seems Mato has been hiding her pain since even before the series started, and the more she hided it and ran away from it, the more violent BRS got.

Zhou said:

Yomi deleted Mato's messages because she doesn't' remember her feelings for Mato anymore. Dead Master got killed, and so Yomi forgot her feelings for Mato.

Mato says it's wrong because she believes forgetting your pain or letting someone else take that pain for you is wrong.

Mato got to the conclusion that she can't let BRS take her pain anymore. She wants to deal with it on her own. And of course, she wants Yomi and Kagari to remember their pain too, so they can face their problems on her own too, instead of just forgetting.

Really good episode; but i want to confirm two things; the girl who Saya wanted to protect then was STR? not Yuu? Also at the end i know since Dead Master died Yomi forgot Mato but it almost seemed like she went directly to delete her entry; or is just that she noticed that her entry was on she didn't recognize? In any case IBRS vs STR should be good; wonder if the lost memories will be recovered.

wow, so STR and BGS / Yuu and Saya were in this together the whole time? mindf*ck for me :S

the BGS / Saya backstory was pretty interesting, so I'm guessing she isn't as bad as she first appeared to be

but dayum, STRENGTH IS A BEAST!!!!

and kagari is still a b*tch. i was also saddened that yomi deleted all traces of mato on her phone...
really hoping everything goes back to normal between mato and yomi :/

Looks like Yomi forgot about Mato...kinda sad.

The fights were great again specially that puzzle box at the end is great.

Epic episode, enough said.
I was very surprised seeing Yuu's past. I cant believe she could deal with that for so long.
Also seems like I have a new found respect for Saya, I guess she isn't a psycho, since she mainly did it to protect the other world.
I'm starting to hate Kagari all over again, acting like its a problem that Yomi seems "cheerful" to her, it pisses me off. She didn't even seem to care about Yomi at all during the time she was all depressed.

Here's an explanation of the plot:

Yuu is trapped in the Underworld.

STR is trapped in the Real World.

Mato is suppressing some issues from her past, so BRS is getting more and more violent and stronger. BRS is set out to destroy the Underworld.

Saya connects with BGS in order to protect Yuu in the Underworld.

Saya tries to strengthen other avatars (by messing up with the real persons' feelings) so that these can be a match to try and stop BRS from destroying the Underworld.

Everything backfired when not even fully powered Dead Master could deal with BRS, and due to Mato merging with BRS and going Insane now everything seems lost.

Just please tell me that BGS isn't dead, i mean theres still a lot of things about her that have to be cleared about her, not just her other self but for example, why she was always spying the otherselves since the 1st episode?
Theres one more thing about her wich intrigs me, while the otherselves are fighting their "realselves" are always in pain, like Kagari was a psycho while Chariot was fighting BRS or when Yomi goes madness while DM fought BRS and they always looked angry, but BGS is totally different(she always looked a bit sad to me, not hungry for battle like the others even STR you can tell in the preview), maybe she isn't that bad that we thought she was or am i thinking too much?

That's because STR made Saya conscious of her other self (BGS) and so both Saya and BGS have always been working in sync to protect Yuu (who is trapped in the other world).

In other words, BGS has a mission to fulfil, and that's why she doesn't' act battle hungry like the others.

Wow, this episode was just flawless for me. I can only think about one thing: iBRS fighting is just damn badass.
Plenty of good action on this one, and seems that Saya wasn't evil at all. She wanted to protect STR on the other world, or did she want to protect Yuu? It's not very clear for me. And also, Yuu is STR or STR is Yuu... Or they're both only one being. Also it seems that the other world could have been "created" by STR/Yuu, as it seems that the other world will be destroyed if she dies/loses.

Edit: Forget it, just read 1idd0kun's post and now everything is quite clear, thank you.

Saya is willing to let BGS die along with BRS, but if she can't kill BRS everything is pointless, since is BRS that one who is destroying the other world.

I'm also getting lost but, from what others r saying: the real Yuu is trapped in the world where BRS is, and SRT is in the human world(maybe that explains why she doesnt age &was able to send mato to the other world).

As for Yomi deleting Mato's msg, I'm wondering if it's because she completely 4got her or she just doesn't feel any sort of connection to her anymore...

Either way amazing ep, only 2 to go :) Usually I don't like too happy ending for these kinds of animes but these characters have been through a lot so I think they deserve a happy ending!!! :)

Dead Master was killed, so Yomi lost her feelings for Mato. That's why she deleted Mato from her cell. She probably doesn't even remember why she had Mato's number in the first place.

Because she doesn't age, she doesn't have a shadow, she can send people to the other world, and she told Mato she was her first and only friend, but Yuu was friends with Saya.

All that considering, it's painfully obvious that she isn't Yuu, that she isn't even human, that she is STR.

Holy shit, this episode was absolutely fucking awesome! (Yes, that was needed. xD)

Seriously though, I really loved this episode. Insane Black Rock Shooter looks so awesome. Loving her weapon, huge crystal-like sword that is also a machine gun, hell yeah. :D

I totally did not expect Yuu to be such an important character, seriously mind blown. So Yuu and Saaya were really close the whole time, and here I thought Yuu was only close with Mato and Saaya was one manipulative bitch. So Yuu is also not 'normal' which explains why she doesn't age and why she doesn't have a shadow, makes perfect sense now. xD The real Yuu is in the 'BRS World' while a 'puppet' Yuu is in the real world. Dayum!

During the credits, seeing Yomi deleting Mato's contact number on her phone was pretty sad. Seems like she has forgotten about Mato after BRS stabbed DM. D:

Fucking loved the fight scenes. Was on the edge of my seat each time, heh. That particular scene with Strength and BRS on the cube-looking 'stage' was awesome.

Definitely 5/5, such a great episode and huge plot twist.
However, 2 episodes left, I don't want this to end!!! :( Hoping to see Mato/BRS again and kick some major ass. :D

This following statement is in addition to my last post on the plot details of the TV series, which I have copied here:
BRSxIgnition said:

SPOILERS UP TO CHAPTER 5 BELOW

Saya pretty much has a twisted operation going on. She uses her manipulation (see: "Counselling") and 'coffee' to scare these girls into developing huge mental issues (See: Yomi) By doing this, she is able to link them to the bodies she 'grows' in the dark world as Black Gold Saw.

Black Rock Shooter is able to 'free' these people from their sorrows and grievances in the real world by killing their other-self in the Dark World. When a 'other self' dies, all memories of the person's issues vanish, including the cause, the reaction, and any details. This happened with Kagami/Chariot. Black Rock Shooter (Mato) is slowly being destroyed mentally by Saya's Manipulation, and physically by the other girls in the Dark World.

Strength/Yuu seems to have the same link Black Gold Saw/Saya has between the two worlds. This will likely be explained more within the next few episodes. They know about each world, and they can control 'themselves' in both worlds. STR/Yuu sides with BRS/Mato, by trying to help her solve their problems without the use of killing Dead Master. Dead Master/Yomi essentially sides with Black Gold Saw/Saya unwillingly, by giving into Saya's Manipulation.

The only thing that's really left unexplained at this point, is that we don't know how Saya and Yuu have control over their other selves in the Dark World. It's quite possible that they've simply had them long enough, and they've linked. It seems like Mato is going to link with BRS, but I can't wait to see how, seeing as how Black Rock Shooter has essentially lost her mind and gone.. well, Insane.

I've always wondered how iBRS fit into the universe, and - while this is entirely my own hypothesis - I believe that iBRS appears when Mato is in an extremely depressed/psychotic state when linked with BRS.

Either way, I can't way - the cracked star at the end is a nice little nod at iBRS' character symbol, where:

BRS = Clean ★
iBRS = Cracked ★
Dead Master = Skull
Black Gold Saw = Horned Crown/Helmet
Stength = Cubed Fist

NEEDLESS TO SAY - SPOILERS UP TO CHAPTER 6 FOLLOW.
Also, from now on, I will refer to the 'other selves' using their Full Names. (Not: BRS, BGS, STR, etc...)

After watching this episode, it seems I was wrong on a few points in the above quote - namely, Saya's Intentions.

While Saya's way of running her 'operation' IS indeed messed up, as I mentioned before - she is not doing it for the wrong reasons. She has two goals - one main, and one secondary.

Goal #1: To preserve the 'other' world and protect Strength
Goal#2: To alleviate people's worries through the use of the other world.

The first goal is evidenced by Strength's request in the past, when she asked Saya to 'protect her'. To clarify here: Strength and Yuu are in a full link, and able to 'switch places' at any time. This can be evidenced by her eyes when Yuu spoke with Saya in the past. Her eyes were amber - like Strength's, and her personality was darker - now however, Yuu has full control, evidenced by her brighter personality and knowledge of Strength. Saya, after learning about the other world and being awakened by Strength, begins to use it to keep Strength safe, as well as to alleviate the worries of people under her 'care'. By causing these girls under her care to "Awaken" - i.e. giving them mental stresses in our world - it attracts Black Rock Shooter to them in the 'other world'.

In normal conditions, Black Rock Shooter is completely stable. She always first offers an allegiance, by holding out her hand and/or trying to help the other person, like she tried to do with both Dead Master and Kohata's 'other self'. If an allegiance can't be made, she has to kill them to keep that world stable and safe, because the "awakened selves" will only cause havoc. This is why she was forced to kill Chariot, Dead Master, and Kohata's other self in the end. By killing these, it erases their pain, and allows them to 'start over' as well as keeping the "other world" stable. Normally, because Black Rock Shooter is a stable entity in the 'other world' she wouldn't hurt anyone unless provoked - but because Yuu linked Mato into Black Rock Shooter just as she killed Dead Master, it caused her to go insane - and like Saya said in the episode:

"If these girls have to endure great mental burdens, then the girls in the other world will lose what little humanity they have left." - Irino Saya

This quote refers to the exact tactic she has used to 'Awaken' all of the others so far. She forces them to undergo this mental stress in the real world, to awaken them in the 'other world', in order to draw Black Rock Shooter out to help or kill them. However, this was never meant to be used with Black Rock Shooter herself. Because of Yuu's actions, Mato was linked to Black Rock Shooter, and went through a horrible 'Mental Burden' (Seeing Yomi/Dead Master dead by ‘her’ hands.) This caused Black Rock Shooter to lose all of her remaining sanity and humanity. Because Black Rock Shooter had always been the most powerful, having her lose her humanity and awaken was the last thing they wanted.

Now, because Yuu has inadvertently awakened Black Rock Shooter (now insane Black Rock Shooter), insane Black Rock Shooter is going to attempt to kill everyone and everything in the 'other world'. This prompts both Saya/Black Gold Saw and Yuu/Strength to try and kill her or calm her down. Saya attempted to kill Mato in the real world, because by doing that, she would be able to instantly remove Black Rock Shooter from the 'other world' - however, as we can see, she failed, as she couldn’t do it.

At this point, the plot in the two worlds is this:

Real World: Because of Saya's failure in negotiations with insane Black Rock Shooter, I believe that Yuu will try to communicate with her through
'Other World': Because of Black Gold Saw's injuries, Strength is now forced to fight in her place against insane Black Rock Shooter, to restore peace to their world. Judging by the action, she has a chance, but we won't know until the next episode.

I really can't wait until next week's episode, I really didn't expect much from this anime at all given its running length and names behind it, but it's so so good! I love it!

Like before, let me know if you have any questions, and I'll be glad to answer them.

(*The above analysis was done on one viewing + minor checks for the quotes.)

Yuu is actually STR, so she isn't human. That's why she doesn't age.
And how does one arrive at that conclusion?

Because she doesn't age, she doesn't have a shadow, she can send people to the other world, and she told Mato she was her first and only friend, but Yuu was friends with Saya.

All that considering, it's painfully obvious that she isn't Yuu, that she isn't even human, that she is STR.

make sense, i think you hit the jackpot with that explanation

Read above - it's not that Yuu is anything or STR is anything.

They simply switch places when Yuu Controls STR, and vise-versa

BRS is set out to destroy the Underworld.

Saya connects with BGS in order to protect Yuu in the Underworld.

Saya tries to strengthen other avatars (by messing up with the real persons' feelings) so that these can be a match to try and stop BRS from destroying the Underworld.

Everything backfired when not even fully powered Dead Master could deal with BRS, and due to Mato merging with BRS and going Insane now everything seems lost.

This part makes sense to me. Thanks for simplifying it for everyone ^ . ^

I don't want this to end!!! :(
So you'd rather it go on so long that it turns into something that gets confused with cow feces? Endless shit?

Please. Like we need more Narutos, Bleaches and One Pieces.

Oh. Looks like you already like cow feces. Nevermind.
Maybe it shouldn't be that long but at least 12 episodes so we could have seen more character development.
Like I said in another thread, it should've been 12 episodes, because it's trying to squish too much drama in too short a time without leaving space for breathing room in between. The drama wouldn't feel that forced if there were some developments and down time to spread it all out. And we needed more character setup before we're suddenly forced to wallow in their issues.

So in the end Yuu is the cause of all of this. Strength took over Yuu in some fashion and is the one on the outside and the real Yuu is in that world or at least the Yuu that Saya was friends with is in that world. At least that's what I got from it. Seems there is no "bad guy" just a bunch of messed up people. xD

Yuu/Strength doesn't want what's been happening to happen anymore. Rightfully so, taking away ones problems and erasing the pain doesn't make a person stronger. Working through the pain, and overcoming your problems is what will. I don't know how linking Black Rock Shooter with Mato will bring an end to this cycle but I guess we will see.
