How important is anime to you? Seeing as how this is an anime community, I would like to see the varying levels of interest that we may share.

In the spoiler are a couple of questions to consider if you have no idea what to talk about:

**Sorry if none of the poll choices/questions suit you. I'm just one person. Its hard to think of all the possible scenarios myself. Let me know if I should include another poll option or question I'll edit it later when I receive more input.**

So let's hear it from you.

I think I exaggerated my vote there, however I think about anime almost as much as I think about sex and food and being a 17 year old teenage guy, that's quite a lot! I watch about 4-6 hours average a day because I'm kinda busy with school and whatnot. my girlfriend and I are both anime fans too,(We actually met on MAL!) I learned some light Japanese, enough to engage in somewhat intelligent conversation with a fellow otaku. I love anime :) It's awesome and in a weird way it has changed my life, because it helped me get through some tough times and I met good friends and my girlfriend because of it so maybe my vote isn't exaggerated after all.

I play anime on my desktop like, almost all the time... I don't really watch it, mainly just listening to it while I'm doing some assignment or browsing.
I listen to anime more than listening to music...

What?

I simply watch like 3-4 episodes per day, if any at all. I do however hang out on anime forumboards or sections a lot, but that's just a part of my daily routine of web surfing..

I voted "it's just one of my many sources for entertainment" though I wouldn't put the "meh" before it! I don't see that as a negative thing because I like to dabble with lots of different types of entertainment. After all, variety is the spice of life, and trying a decent amount of everything is a good way to remain open minded and mingle with lots of kinds of people (in RL and online.)

It's true. I listen to them. Mainly because MPC window usually got buried below other programs...
When it's new series or new episode that I haven't seen yet, then yes, I watch them...

For me it changes, I usually binge watch anime till I'm tired of it, quit for a week to a month and be obsessed with something else(last time it was reading YA novels), then come back and the cycle starts again. But even in my down time period I do keep up with some ongoinng shows and I never stop liking it. I guess it could be a bad way to do things, but that's just the way I am about things like this.

anime if what i live for. its the only thing i really like doing in my spare time when im by myself since not too many of my other friends like it or pay attention to it. makes kind of a loner in that respect but idc its what i like. it doesn't take up all my free time but i would probably say 75%. the other 25 devoted to friend hang out time and some games and stuff.

"Its the main/only way I keep myself amused in my free time." Apply the most for me, sure i do a lot of gaming on my free time too. Though that's a mere 2 or so hours out of the day. Practically 3 and a half - 4 hours a day for me (depending on time) i would spend watching anime.

Anime inspired me, changed me and even saved me in many ways. Though it's mainly a way of entertain myself, it also did things for me I never expected it would. Some people get their lifes changed thanks to music, others thanks to movies, other thanks to books. Mine was thanks to anime.

Anime indeed changed my life once. I know this sounds stupid, but it's true. It turned me from a terribly optimistic child to a terribly realistic negative guy. You can say it helped me grow up a bit...

Now watching anime is just the one thing I do in my freetime. Before it was games, before those it was books. I always need a mean of "escaping" from reality. It just happens to be anime/manga now. But yes, it takes a very important part of my life. Probably the most important until now.

I watch anime pretty regularly, but mostly older stuff and I balance it between Asian dramas, video games, and books. But I voted the last because even though I don't watch it all the time it has had a major impact in my life.

Back when I was in high school I didn't have any friends or passions. That changed when I got into anime. I met my best friend through anime and we bonded beyond that. It also got me into the Japanese language, which in turn helped me appreciate languages in general.

Thanks to anime I also got into foreign music and media, and my interest in Asian increased. And now I live in Korea, where I get to experience foreign culture everyday.

All this thanks to my obtaining an interest in Japanese animation.

So yeah, I guess it changed my life ._.

To me it's just a form of entertainment, sometimes I go for months without watching it because I just don't feel like and sometimes when I am really into an anime I can watch multiple episodes per day. Other than that it hasn't changed my life in any way, the only anime related things I own are some of my favorite anime that I have watched more than once...

Anime is just another of many ways to entertain myself, as you can see I barely watch any anime's nor post on these forums. The sole reason I registrated on this site is to keep myself up-to-date with recent anime's from time to time. I have been back for several weeks now, but before this I had stopped watching for 8 months.

It's just one of my sources for entertainment. My main source is still video games. There have been some periods of time in the past since I've started watching anime where anime becomes my main "thing to do," but it hasn't lasted yet. Like right now I'm kind of in a lull where I'm only watching about one episode per day, if that. But during those periods I was watching anywhere from 5-10 episodes per day, back-to-back, in my free time. (And if I didn't have classes or anything, then even more than that.)

Lately it has been my main source of amusement, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that it changed my life in any major way.. yet. Maybe a few minor things. I probably fall under the "it used to be a casual thing, but now I'm pretty obsessed" category because that fits me best. Up until a month or so ago I had watched anime very very casually, and lately I have been finishing anime non stop. So we'll focus on the "lately" I guess.

I probably watch anime anywhere from 4-6 hours of my day right now when I get home from class. I hadn't really day dreamed about anime at all until I finished Clannad: AS, and that changed. First time I ever became so attached to certain characters to ever think about it when I was away from my desk. As for MAL, I didn't even post on the forums a few weeks ago, and now I regularly do. I have MAL open in my browser almost all the time while I am at my desk. However I don't really participate in other sites besides the two that I use to torrent.

It hasn't influenced any major life decisions yet though. Although I might try to take a few Japanese classes next semester for school. Shitty subs are the death of me! :X

Ive averaged 4 hours a day for the last 2 years, though I dont actually do it that way. Its 40 episodes one day and friends house the next resulting in 0.

'It's saved/changed my life or gives me a reason to live and be happy' Was my vote.

Definetly changed my life though, started studying jap + going there for holidays so on.

It's one of the things that keep me going, because if it wasn't for it and my friends I would pretty much be just living the life for the sake of living, as I don't see a bright future no matter where I look at (Yeah, you study a lot for your whole adolescence, then you get a job, work like a condemned for your whole life, then gets a few years to relax before you "rot away". How is that good?) Because of anime I can think about what I want to see next, I've got more things to talk about with some otaku friends of mine, I'm not always serious, I don't have to foccus only on going to gym/swimming/studying, it keeps my mind away from this god-awful world that we live at, so it's something essential to keep me sane, pretty much. I don't know how I lived before anime, lol. Truth is I don't think I was really living before it, just... Going on.

Chose the fifth option,
''Its a temporary hobby/passtime of mine for now.'',
since when I have some free time I spend some of it watching anime.

I recently started watching more since I want to finish all the shows I left halfway and finally check out the ones I keep hearing about. When I'm done with all the animes I want to watch I'll probably go back to just following the weeklies.

Altough a decent chunk of my free time is filled by anime and everything related, I don't think "obsessed" is quite the right choice of words. I guess "main" describes it best (given those choices) so I'll just go with that.
Usually, I'm watching 0-2 episodes a day. My web activity is a lot about anime stuff (well mainly danbooru and MAL) and some of the games I play are anime related (be it style-wise or a visual novel) but it's not like it's always the center of everything for me.
Altough it might not be vital for me, I'd really miss it if I had to give up anime.

1.)How often do you watch/daydream about anime? whenever i have free time and when i dont have free time im daydreaming about anime
2.)How much time do you put into anime?(including using MAL/wallpaper hunting/blogs/"anime research"/etc. i should have a job again soon so about 12 episodes a day atm its 26-35 a day i also buy everything i watched and enjoyed
3.)Has it influenced any of your life decisions?(moving to Asia/learning Japanese/etc.) i keep teaching myself Japanese but constantly get distracted by life and stop for a while but ill pick it back up and move to Japan someday

1) All the time now, it has a lot of ideals I like.
2) I have the urge to check my anime sources all the time now like Kuroneko from Ore no imouto!
3) The biggest impact is an effect that took some time to sink in. I think anime, reading subs a lot, made me more conscious about literature in general and of course in anime. I barely criticize books, tv shows, movies, etc, but anime changed that attitude. It must be because of all those damn cliches!
