Great episode. Really, it was. Just Kanna made me cry so hard. I love her so much, and I'm so happy she was able to give Kaito-kun, albeit painfully, to Takatsuki. It was so sweet and beautiful. Kaito and Takatsuki I really don't care. They're happy. Whatever. I just want Tanigawa and Tetsuro. Such a beautiful couple. The guy in the back just loving her without having to show it.

I like Kaito's assertiveness though. He's strong, and he shows it. It's nice :)

The best episode of the series IMO. Drama everywhere and not to forget about the epic ending with the kiss.

^THIS. That's what I said. A premature confession will only lead to more drama for the couple.

Kanna has the short end of the stick. Maybe Mio will turn bi and will get Remon? Lol.. but seriously. The fact someone's heart is not going to survive this particular summer hurts me where my heart should be.

Drama between Tetsurou / Mio / Kanna was the best.

Finally Kaito manned up and confessed..... Awesome....

But so far, apart from having to heal Kaito with kisses (really?), it has been highly underutilized. I want more, but only if they're going to make use of its potential.

IMO, the sci-fi element is just there to spice things up a bit and make the show feeling less cliche. It'd be nice if the writer puts more effort into it. However, it may just add another layer of complexity and end up having the plot losing its focus. This is not a tale of interspecies marriage across the galaxy; but love-circle between a group of boys and girls, with one of them happens to be an alien.

When you originally tease watchers with the sci-fi element you can't just escape it because it's suddenly inconvenient. And making it less cliche? Did you not get the several times it's been mentioned the writer already played the alien card in Onegai Teacher? He just chose to use the alien main character again because he's already used it before, in other words he just lacked ideas.

This episode realy got to me. Not the big kiss between the 2 main characters but the emotion that kana showed. By the time kana was done giving the man she loved away i was realy affected, and then when she broke down infront of Tetsuro and he put his hand on her face, i fucking lost it. That moment made this show worth watching, and it made onigai teacher look like childs play. They have realy made a good anime here. If it has a good ending this gets a 10.

まじで。。。?
How anyone can wish for bad things to happen to any of these characters is beyond me...

And what is up with this hate? Just because you ship one pairing doesn't mean you have to hate on another. Not to mention you shouldn't have any emotional biases since this is a love triangle concerning fictional characters, not yourself (lol). The only "people" that should be legitimately frustrated/angry should be the characters themselves. Every single one of these characters, imo, are good people. I see no reason to hate anyone (if you think logically, that is)

This.

Oh it's soo happy happy for Ichika and Kaito at the moment. This can't end good.

Poor Kanna ; _ ; She deserves so much better. The relationship between Ichika and Kaito seems to rip every one else to pieces. Interesting.

Lemon being the troll as usual with her camera <3

I used to kind of hate Tanigawa because of how she always tried to prevent Kaito X Ichika, but after this EP Tanigawa is now one of my favorite characters for what she did.

Tanigawa has some serious cajones.

But still Ichika needs to die or leave. One of these girls are going to get hurt if she doesn't!

Maybe he has a thing for romancing with an alien chick? Maybe he considers this as an improved version of his old tale? Maybe he wants to pay homage to his "Onegai Teacher" series? It's been 10 years since Onegai Teacher was produced. I don't see why he can't re-use his old concept again. The sci-fi element is not becoming inconvenient. It's been playing its role in the background. It's going to provide the final obstacle to their love affair, just like in Onegai Teacher.

My favorite girl in this series iis Ichika and will always be Ichika, so I was overjoyed at the fact that her and Kaito finally got together.

That scene where Kanna was crying made me feel bad for her, but I actually felt worst for Tetsurou, not only seeing the girl he likes cry, but crying for another guy and professing her love for him. That must seriously hurt the heart. Add to that Mio, and I just felt worst, because she's a favorite also.

I want an ending with Ichika x Kaito and Mio x Tetsurou. If it happens...I will love this anime..and it will be the perfect ending.
I am a sucker for romance!!!!

I don't mind him having Ichika as an alien or paying homage to Onegai Teacher. What I do have a problem with is the way certain plot points have been handled, namely the alien reveal. I would assume the alien card will be used to its fullest by the end, but up to this point has been nothing but a convenient plot device.

The main problem I have is with the writing in closing out episodes and dealing with the aftermath. EVERY single cliffhanger in this show has had no immediate effect whatsoever and they all have been entirely anti-climactic. I'll list the major cliffhanger episodes, and their immediate outcomes (of course the ultimate outcome is Kaito x Ichika...):
Episode 3: subway camera scene...Ichika just walks off (they couldn't think of anything creative?)
Episode 5: Tetsurou reveals to Kaito about Kanna's feelings...NEVER resolved as of yet, and since the Kaito sweepstakes are over, I don't see it ever being brought up again. Like the alien reveal, WHY was it even brought up if it wouldn't have any lasting impact (SERIOUSLY wasted opportunity - Kanna could have AT LEAST found out and the repercussions with Tetsurou would have been interesting)
Episode 8: alien reveal...everyone's okay with it (this has been touched on upon enough already)

Ano Natsu swiftly handles its cliffhangers without actually resolving them completely. Episode 3 and Episode 8 are resolved very poorly while Episode 5 is a complete joke, troll, and insult to all Kanna fans. They could have easily had a Toradora-esque confrontation like when Minori calls Ryuuji a liar in Episode 23. Just a complete lack of handling the plot point.

Luckily the direction helps A LOT! I just wish the writing would fully handle everything it brings up. So far, it hasn't done a good job in the areas above.

However the anime is going to end, Kanna will be on the losing end
I just see no way that she can obtain what she wants; I mean, I like her and all, but still...

And that's why I won't consider the ending to be a happy ending, no matter what happens from now on.
Someone WILL be lonely and sad in the end because of that alien, and I fear that will be Kanna. If not her, then it's Mio. Even if Ichika leaves, they'll still love each other 'til eternity and stuff.

I bet they'll downplay Kanna's part from now on (they always pull this shit, heartless bastards) and focus on how Ichika has to leave soon. Of course she'd rather stay. But oh well, I couldn't care less for those two.

Meh.

There is no happy ending for everyone in romance anime, almost always. One or two will be heartbroken and you will just have to accept it, because that is how life is. The strong willed moves on, the weak wastes their life just because there has been a setback.

I loved this episode. The way Kanna vented her emotional torments and gave Ichika a push was actually the best thing she could do, knowing that her feelings won't be returned. Her reason for liking Kaito is so honest and straightforward that you cannot but feel sad for her, seeing how she lost to someone who just appeared in the life of the boy she loved for so long. And it was even sadder when she cried as Tetsurou attempting to comfort her while Mio wept behind the shade.

The confession was adorable. Throughout the series, I felt the "fourth" kiss was coming, and then, the fifth followed and there will be plenty to come. Unless Ichika decides to go the bad ending route and leave, which has quite a fair amount of chance, since we still have the final quarter of the anime left.

That being said, 5/5

My heart aaaaaaaaaches for Kanna : (

Very emotional episode. I wonder if Mio came with Tetsurou and was just hiding from Kanna or was she hiding from both of them.

You want to feel happy about the confession...and it was super cute no doubt...but man oh man the other members of the crew have so many heart aches that it is hard to end that episode with a smile. Especially now that Kanna is going to be torn apart seeing them as a couple since the only reason she said anything was because she wants Kaito to be happy. Props to that girl.

Of course you're right. But anime isn't "life". It's not real, and that's a good thing obviously.
We watch anime to enjoy the fiction, to escape the dull reality for a moment.
I know this show is supposed to be drama. I'm also aware of the impossibility that everything I wish would happen actually will.

I just don't understand how such a strong love between the two main characters could develop so fast. It's just stupid. Think about it. As I said in a previous thread, he doesn't know anything about her and they never even talked much. She's a "foreign" beauty with big boobies. Some may call this love, I call it hormones of a pubescent boy.
Their relationship is just so plain and boring. It's not romantic at all in my opinion. The problem is that this happens way too often in anime these days. It's annoying.

I'm starting to dislike Mio specifically when she was making Kanna go to Kaito's house and telling her it's okay to be selfish. It's like she's using it as a way for to get hooked up to Tetsurou, but I'm glad Kanna didn't actually listened to her and be selfish and instead helped Kaito and Ichika get together.

tl;dr I want Kanna to be happy. Not get more fucking depressed because she did the right thing.

The first sentence says it all:

The Dulcinea Effect is the strange compulsion many male heroes have to champion, quest for, or even die for, girls they met five minutes ago.

Haha! You can say that again. I didn't find Ichika attractive at all until after her "fourth" kiss.

I don't think I have to say anything about this ep anymore after 11 pages of posts, but I'm still curious what's exactly the case with Remon. We still only know some little bit that she discussed with Manami about "repeating it every year" or something like that. Also the sci-fi problem has to be solved yet, but only two outcomes are pretty much possible actually... I hope they will go for something unexpected I didn't think of.

I doubt it, she seemed to be hiding. It's more like she still feels Tetsurou's feelings for Kanna are too much of a challenge for her, especially now that Kanna decided to give up her impossible crush (even if grieving). She also probably doesn't want to do the same thing to Kanna that Ichika and Kaito did which would indicate she's giving up. So yeah, she's crying because she feels like she's about to lose, but whether this loss is because she feels Tetsurou will go for Kanna or because she doesn't want to face off against Kanna is anyone's guess.

BTW, love is ultimately selfish which is why I don't fault Mio for pushing Kanna to keep trying, evidently in her best interests. Kanna has never looked at Tetsurou in a romantic way anyway and what girl in love would seriouly listen to someone who told them to give up. At best the only thing Mio could do was keep quiet or soften the blow, which she was unwilling to do due to her personal stake in this.

I do have fault in the Kaito/Ichika romance however. Kaito's attraction for Ichika has always been portrayed as very physical. He's literally just a guy who became attracted to this mysterious hot chick who ended up living with him. He literally knows NOTHING about her, and in a big way it's more or less shown that Ichika's reasons for liking Kaito aren't very deep, beyond him being nice to her and lending her aid when in a bad situation. Honestly, Mio, Tetsurou and Kanna show deeper reasons than those two lovebirds.

When I started watching it I thought this would be just an average anime, but I had a nice surprise.
I hope the next 3 episodes are also great.

Aww that ending was pretty sweet and very heartwarming. Looks like their relationship is officially settled.

Poor Kanna... was rooting for her over Ichika but there was just no chance whatsoever for her. Ouch it was really hard to watch her cry like that and push Ichika towards Kaito even though she loved him. ;( The preview shows the new couple acting all lovey dovey together, oh god its going to really suck for Kanna.

Very curious as to how the remaining three will play out. And lol Lemon still up to her usual ways at the end. I wonder if she's really just there to help these kids blossom their love.

I want to drop this really.

I don't like Ichika at all. alien? give me a break. she looks or acts no different, except for that stupid weird animal thing. she drew out this whole thing for no reason.

Kaito is a JERK. he was told about Kanna but couldn't even man up and face her. he didn't even think about her for 5 seconds. he couldn't talk to her.

Tetsurou knows Mio likes him and it's too soon for him to make a move on Kanna. after the resolution to to the first triangle I couldn't even care.

the last 3 episodes are just going to be some stupid crap where an alien, that doesn't look or act alien comes to take her back. blah blah drama. probably stays with Kaito on Earth. possibly leaves dramatically. Kanna still has no chance. either way this had gotten so predictable and boring.

I feel compelled to finish with only 3 episodes left, but this got pretty bad fast.

you could have this same story without the alien stuff and it wouldn't make a difference. just feels pointless and tacked on.

It's a good thing they're cool with her being an alien. I feared that some sort of discrimination would come after this. I guess they're more of the "our friend is an alien, that's cool!" types. Kaito's right that Ichika being an alien wasn't the problem. It was that she was eventually going to leave someday that bothered him. That was a good move on Lemon-senpai's part by throwing back Kaito's question at him.

Kanna just made the ultimate sacrifice (well, in terms of romance, anyway). That was incredibly admirable of her, even knowing that she was helping her rival with this. She wanted Kaito to be happy, so even at the cost of her own happiness, she did it. Can't say that didn't resonate with me. With this, the OTP of this show is officially sealed. My god, another incredible episode. I keep enjoying episode after episode of this. I love it.

cliche moment of rival giving talk to heroine who's confused of their love, but still goddam good.
also, the moment with kanna crying was cute, especially with tetsurou
glad i saved up my time to hold my self back from watching this until it ended, now i can watch it straight without being impatient
this anime so cliche, but refreshing to watch, since it gets pretty predictable but nice to watch depending on the characters you favor ofc.

It wasn't that bad really it was just dragging a bit.
And now it somehow feels like it will al be a bit predictable like a agent that will come the fetch Ichika and force them apart or something like that.
Or maybe even the others forcing them apart.

I have never seen so many people love eachother in an Anime before, dayum. o.o"

The ending was... cute... I guess...? Kind of corny, but whatever... I sort of like Kanna better surprisingly. Usually I'm all for the main couple arrangement, but I'm just not feeling this one.

Sh*T I aknost cried when Ichicka confesses her true feelings for Kaito. Good Good Good! Excellent Episode and Series. Perhaps, This is the only series that made me laugh and cry. It's an all-in one love packed series that shows what happens in real life.

The only thing is that i really felt bad for Kanna 'cause i know it's very hard for someone to get over the person whom she/he really loved and for Mio too... TetsuroxKanna. How I wish that i could be the male protagonist. I want to be loved by a human-alien too lol

So Far, It has gone pretty well. A dazzling 5/5 for this episode and for those episodes that i didn;'t have the chance to comment, I'll leave it once i'm finish with the series. WHew. I'm Really loving this series now. Too Bad, It had to compete with Another which was very much popular i guess.

The Kanna vs Ichika scene was rather epic. Kanna was fighting back the tears while screaming at Ichika. I don't blame her. How dare Ichika throw away Kaito's heart after winning his affection away from Kanna. Kanna can truly say she loved Kaito by doing what she did. Selflessly fixing the situation even though it pretty much means she has to let Kaito go. very intense moments and well done.

Exactly. Thank you for already stating it so I could just quote lol!

So now the other love triangle needs to be resolved. I noticed the only one who hasn't come out with his feelings was Tetsurou so basically it's on him to decide who he wants.
