| It was interesting how it appeals to an image of Geppetto and Pinocchio with the old man and the little robot but the old guy turns out to be a nasty person who used the robot as a doll (the title of the episode) to flatter himself. Showing a tawdry, unpleasant consequence of the existence of robots is fairly uncommon and a good piece of science fiction. But the reveal of the old man's true character didn't have any style to it, and the same is true of pretty much every scene in this episode (the last scene with J and Antonia especially comes to mind). Even with some good material (which not every episode so far has had) it's pretty bland. This is a problem the series has had in general. |
| It was ok but I wasn't really feeling this one either. Old guy builds a hi-tech punching bag, which can also turn into a Terminator for some reason. And he helpfully decides to confess it all to Daisuke at a really convenient point. Guess we have a fair few filler episodes ahead. I'm also gonna guess J has personality of some of our characters' fathers in him... |
