THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

Wow, I forgot how insane Mad Pierrot was.

His English dubbed laugh is very impressive to say the least - it sets the mood for the episode perfectly.

This is the best one. No, I'm not talking about the best episode from the anime, it's the best episode ever made, period.

Lol that episode was... great. Scary funfair trick always works.

And Mad Pierrot was a cool enemy, but he reminded me of someone from another anime, can't remember who.

I was ever so slightly creeped out at the end, when Pierrot was crying for his mother. It sent a chill down my spine, which is an achievement, let me tell you.

Same here. D: Mad Pierrot just freaked me out from the start.

And what a way to perpetuate people's fears of clowns and theme parks at night. XD

Absolutely amazing episode, the best one yet. And yet, I think it's one of my favorite episodes ever. Art was amazing, it was creepy, action-packed, it has everything I love, and the execution is simply superb. I also like the fact they didn't revealed much past about Pierrot, like when Jet calls Spike.

Best moments was the first fight, and after Pierrot got hit, which is a really creepy yet at the same time kind of pitiful experience to watch.

Amazing episode. You can tell from here that they tried to do a lot of different things with this anime.

The next episode preview was hilarious.

For the first time I felt really sorry for any cartoon/anime character. Seriously. The moment when he started crying and fell to the ground calling his mother... *sniff*

This episode seemed like filler to me, or an excuse for a gunfight. It just seemed really weird with me and like its only purpose was to creep you out and screw with you mind. It did, but it just seemed out of place.
I also noticed that the animation was different in this one. Seemed less circa 90s and more circa the 2000s. Didn't like that. Luckily by the looks of the episode preview, it's going back to the 90s look.

Watch this in both english dub and sub. This is definitely one of my favorite episode by far in the series. Since the beginning I knew it would be good and I was not disappointed.

Without doubt, one of the finest episodes of any anime, in any genre. Everything in this episode was calculated to give the viewer the rush of a broad spectrum of emotions, from the throwaway comedic elements (the orange peel) to the tension of the fight, and finally the pitiful sight of a small child trapped in a grown man's body crying for his mother. Just perfection distilled into 24.5 minutes.

I agree, that this episode is so creepy and unsettling is an achievement.
I really don't like this episode though. I felt so bad at the end when he starting panicking, thinking he saw a cat. :(

Did anyone notice the rare moment where Spike actually looked afraid? When Pierrot was attacking him at the beginning.. Then we again see his superhero-like ability to think quickly and save himself in a deadly situation..

Great, great great episode.

I'm just wondering - when Faye walks out of the bathroom she says, "If you had give me another minute, I would have finished..." or something to that affect.

Dirty faye? :P

One of the best episodes. THE best villain though. Great character. Reminds me of the baby from Spirited Away (I know this predates that).

We've had almost everything in Cowboy Bebop so far. From Spike's action and dramatic story, going through Jet's film-noir, Faye's mystery, Ed and Ein's parodies, to supernatural and sci-fi thriller episodes like Toys in the Attic.

Now enter Mad Pierrot, a nightmarish entity in an almost surreal, action-packed episode that delivers one of the creepiest and most thrilling moments of the series.

Definitely my favorite stand-alone episode of Cowboy Bebop. Mad Pierrot is simply the best 20-minute episode villain I've ever, ever seen. Anywhere. And the episode is just so well done, extremely re-watchable.

See You Space Cowboy...

D: You're not helping. xD

The creepiest part for me was when Spike shot up the theme park Pluto sailor character and it kept trying to talk and then he kicked in its face till it fell in the ground and STILL was trying to move and talk with his face bashed in. o_o
