it only has a 6.8 and its one of the best series of the season do ppl not like singing while fighting?

6.8? Oh, I thought I was the only one who disliked it. I'm personally not a huge fan of the way they 'sing and fight', not saying you can't combine the two, I just don't like how they did it in this show. Also, Hibiki for some reason annoys me to the point of dropping the series. Her eyes are annoy-ling huge as well.

The only reason it interested me at first was because of the first two girls and the first episode. Then they kill one of them off in the first episode. Then the next couple episode we get Kanade who's emo to the max and Hibiki who just a character I cannot stand seeing on my screen.... It's like she's from a different Anime series.

If I get bored enough, I might go try to catch up but I can't say for sure.

now i'm not saying this show is good but it shouldn't be scored this low, it should have about a 7.30 average

It's simple - most of people dropped that shit.

Because not all people have the same taste.

Ive got it on-hold just in case but i seriously cant get into it; even thought i rate animes extremely high and always try to watch the whole series. The way they try to sing while fighting looks awkard, also as Paul already mentioned, Hibiki had something SO err unpleasant about her ._. and lastly seeing that "walking" animation on the ep 3 or 4 just made me lose interest.
You shouldnt worry too much about the scoring and enjoy it ^^'

How bad is it? Even the guys above who actually like shows where the main appeal attempt is to target male audiences with their female cast didn't like it. You are, of course, entitled to your own opinions.

Man, I gotta stop watching shows I can already tell is bad just from the description. I keep hoping that one of them will surprise me but nope.

i love this anime also and cant find anything wrong with it i was hoping to see if ppl would actually give a reason why they dont like it but all i see is because its shit, then they go watch a shit anime like durarara and bakemonotagari and say its the best thing ever

Ok... I also like it very much
but from a bit different reason I think, so don't beat me :)

as it combines some very nice stuff and ideas - I love how they are presenting names of attacks, basically sound area and some of designs
with some really really silly stuff - all that angst stuff here and there, some lack of logic in certain parts (top secret military base?! of course we will put it under the school no one will notice!)
but this mix, for unknown reason, simply has some charm that makes me watch it and be entertained

But, what takes the cake for me is the bastardization of "music" in this anime.
Music is supposed to bring an extra dimension to the show. Maybe it helps immerse you into the scene. Maybe it helps strengthen the emotional impact of a scene.

Ironically, all the music in this show screams, "This is an insert song. Please buy it."
Not only that, but the singing is earpiercing. Instead of epic battle hymns, we get generic JPOP.

The plot is also so poorly done, the characters so unlikeable that when blue haired girl almost got killed, I started laughing because it was so poorly directed and cheesy.



So you are saying that Symphogear has an original plot? Are you really? You better be kidding me.

This isn't the Game of Thrones. If you want battle hymns I suggest you wonder around Scotland for a while. This show is a vehicle for a couple of Japanese pop stars and the music will be suited to fit their talents.


A reason for the low score is that this show is really not aimed at the majority of people that use this site. You'll see a large amount of people who are incapable of watching a show just for fun or pure entertainment. Those types will always belittle a show that isn't trying to be deep for the sake of being deep.

has a more original plot then the avg anime infact about the only thing that isnt original is the noise and i guess u can argue about their suits

Only watching it for Nana Mizuki, Aoi Yukki, Miyuki Sawashiro, and Yuka Iguchi.
But, it's an ok show.

I don't think you understand what "plot" means.

I dropped it at episode 3, I think. It's trash. And a waste, considering the pretty good first episode.

@Fishcaek-Chan, I understand that you like the series, but you're just as judgmental as the haters... You should learn to accept that people got different tastes, simple as that. But I fully accept the fact that you're enjoying this show…

@Omniknight, you pretty much nailed it.
This is rather generic and cheesy, no doubt; but somehow I find enjoyment in it. The emotions don’t cut that deep; they try to get that "deep (almost melancholic)" feeling into the characters and etc. but I can't say that they succeed that very well. But despite all that, I find it enjoyable enough and worthy of the twenty minutes I’ve to sacrifice every week.


I strongly disagree; even ecchi/comedy stuff like Akikan! stays more original than this. I see nothing in this anime that in any way, shape or form tries challenge any boundaries. But sometimes quality outnumbers originality. Not that this is the best anime ever, but as I mentioned early, I find it enjoyable enough, but not mind-blowing in my opinion.
And just as Dalek-baka said, some stuff in this anime makes very little sense, but it doesn't really annoy me that bad.

And the last point, the music... I guess fans of J/K-pop will enjoy it because they understand and enjoy the music. As for me, I don't understand the choice of music what so ever. The instrumentals do work from time to time; the vocals on the other hand are just off... This is just opinions, I'm an ambient and metal fan, so there's a reason why I don't understand the music presented here, but I personally believe it would be more epic with real war-chants, folk music (I could even go for industrial or noise/glitch) and etc. (I can’t stop but think that these girls are Bards (think D&D and etc.) with somewhat overpowered abilities… And I want them to chant, not… Sing power-pop…)
But this is just personal opinions...

TL;DR
I believe this is enjoyable enough, but there are many flaws in my opinion.

Yes, I find Bakemonogatari very enjoyable :)

Unlikeable and generic characters, uninteresting story, unfitting music and QUALITY animations. This show isn't underrated. I just wait for Hibiki to finally die, although I believe I'll have to wait till the last episode.
