Oh my god that just tops everything.
Try watching a russian teenage girl get ditched by her mom for a guy, then forced to live with her grandmother who steals her home and gives her the crappy one she was living in.Then whore herself for money while sniffing glue because its the only entertaining thing to do.

for crying out loud.....are you people doing this on purpose? ENDINGS SAD ENDINGS, not sad shows, clannad has a ridiculously happy ending

and if key is making something new by god it better be little busters

For some reason, something about that movie just wasn't touching at all. Jack and Rose just didn't convince me =/

ending was so depressing ;; .. although it would not have fit the overall theme of the movie if it didn't end the way it did, so it was a given that the ending was going to be depressing lol

Definitely, that ending just killed me.

TTGL: Lagann-hen for obvious marriage related 'incidents'.
I cried a little bit inside after I finished Clannad. I realized I wasted so much time watching an anime that didn't grab me at all, quite the predicament.
Claymore had me getting a bit annoyed because it was, well, over. I'm still waiting for an OVA to bridge to a season 2.

angel beats the ending made me feel emotions I did not think I had though most of that series was a major downer.
And The ending of G Gundam though not a traditional sad ending I felt sad that such a epic anime had such a gay ending.

Saddest? I'm not too sure. Could be Tokyo Magnitude 8.0's ending; I'm the dude who doesn't cry a lot, but that ending did bring a tear to my eye. The most depressing ending for me would definitely be Evangelion's ending and maybe even Nana's ending. Though Evangelion compensated by releasing the movie, End of Evangelion, yet Nana is yet to do so. I just hope the Mangaka picks up the goddamn pen and finish the damn thing.

Read the manga instead. The anime can be seen as an "it never happened, really" kind of thing after like episode 21. All you'd have to do is start at Chapter ~65 (not exact, but somewhere around there). And there's currently 124 chapters out. It goes far past what the anime covered, and far more interesting.

Claymore Spoiler:

You should put those in spoiler quotes btw.

And that part is wayy besides my point. It's like we're having two completely different discussions now. I was referring to the manga having a totally different event during the events of the North in Pieta and how the manga's continuation is far different from what the anime's ending implied. Plus, my other point was that the manga continues way beyond the anime.

So, I don't see your point.

saying pretty much isnt a spoiler, its to vague, especially since claymore is pretty infamously known to have a high body count, now if i said "character name" dies that would be spoiler

Going with saddest ending, first one that comes to mind is Elfen Lied.

edit: Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom, I'd forgot about this one since it was so long ago i saw it. I had a bigger attachment to the characters in this so yeah Requiem for the Phantom.

The ending to 5 Centimeters per second was a huge downer, though it was almost definately inevitable.

The ending to Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~ was also a downer.

And of course to the Fate Stay/Night anime.

Well the biggest downer ending to an anime I've seen would have to be either 5 centimeters per second or voices of a distant star. Not sure if this counts, but the biggest dissapointmet from an anime I watched was Tatakau Shisho....
