VioLink said: I wasn't expecting this. I hope they have new characters and I hope they don't either, but Shinsengumi Kitan and Hekketsuroku were both depicting the rise and fall of the Shinsengumi, so it was more realistic. Except for the fact, well, that almost all of the Shinsengumi were Oni. Modified by UtsukushiiYume, 06-18-12, 8:31 AM No life. |

Actually, if you would care about history and dig a little you would all see how close this anime is to reality... in EVERY freaking detail, from Harada's scar to the left hand of Saitou, to the way they died... it is a heck of a fabulous anime adaptation for both the game and the historical facts. Not to mention the characters... as deep and complex as it can get considering they were real people who accomplished some hell lot of things. OFC, the fact that everything was, except the vampire/demon stuff, was real, combined with the extremely good boshie looks would kill any girl but I don't see how that is in any way a bad thing. It is a great show, it is worth watching even only for the historical references I am sooo looking forward to watching this and I hope we will get more of Hakuouki in the future. |

Does anyone know what the movies will be about? Will they animate a different game route or what? And in all honesty I don't get why so many people hate the show. It might have bishounen characters but it is not yaoi. Not a single scene ever suggested it. Seriously, how many anime do you get like this? I already lost count of how many series are there where girls' breasts are of a size of a mellon and we get 1000 of ridiculous panty shots. Why don't you complain about those dumb shows? They have no real purpose except producing fan service. While here all fan service is just in great art, nothing more. We actually have a story here which for most part is accurate with real life. And since they did die for real, obviously they will die in anime too. The only complain I have for the show is lack of action, otherwise I see no faults. It has emotions and deep characters with problems. Not some pervy guy who happens to live with the over sized breasted girl and we get to see her and others naked for biggest part of the show with no real story and purpose. Nor is it knowledgeable nor is it fun after watching it more than 3 times unless your life is that sad you can't see all of that fan service in real life -_- One thing that bugged me is that Chizuru kept telling facts like if we are having a history lesson instead of showing things. It is good to know date but sometimes it gets a bit tiresome and breaks the story flow. The prequel has improved that problem. |

Trashing fanservice shows aimed at males is uncalled for (even if it's just tit-for-tat with all the guys trashing otomege), but you're quite correct about the content of Hakuouki. I've watched all three TV seasons so far, and the BL content is nonexistent really. I mean, yes, those so inclined could ship some of the guys, and that's perfectly fine, but there's no requirement to if you're not. Just like a lot of shows with majority female casts. One thing that bugged me is that Chizuru kept telling facts like if we are having a history lesson instead of showing things. It is good to know date but sometimes it gets a bit tiresome and breaks the story flow. The prequel has improved that problem. Hekketsuroku was definitely awkward in the end. It felt quite rushed as they jumped from historical event to historical event with no consistent flow (although it had some rather good scenes as well). The first season and Remeiroku are definitely improvements in that regard. BUY YUYUSHIKI BDS ALL DAY EVERY DAY |

I know everyone dies, but didn't Harada and Saito actually survive in reality? |

As I recall his last scene was him jumping on some armed men but he was owning like a champ back over there. I really didn't get the feeling that he had died. As of Harada, his last scene fighting along with Shiranui also didn't really show him dying although many assumed he died because he was badly injured. The reason why we didn't get any explicit ending for him tho might be that they don't really know what had happened to him in reality either. He was trying to get back to his family as far as I know and it's not sure if he was killed or just drowned after some incidents over the ship he was on. |

Maybe the movies will be alternative ending...where Toshi will actually stay "alive" - if we consider being Rasetsu as "living". |

My bad but it is true (Fan service shows). Though you can sometimes find fun ones like for example Mayo Chiki. But over all I find those shows dumb and pointless. But that's me. At least I have actual reasons to hate it while here people hate just because there are no cute girls with shown underwear. I mean really... if that's what you want, go watch fan service shows but leave us alone. There are so many of those shows that it is much harder to find something decent like this. Hakuouki isno way perfect but it has a lot of positive things, especially prequel. Movie wise I really hope to see other game routes. The ones I'm interested in the most are Okita's, Saito's and Harada's. Hesisuke's would be a nice bonus too. Don't really see what else they could animate. |
