SHE DIDN'T FUCKING DIE, GOD BLESS THE US AND A!!

"A week before Shiori's birthday, she gets permission from her doctor to attend school for a week just like a normal student. Even after getting the chance to go to school for a week, Kaori still avoids Shiori as much as she can, not wanting to have to experience the pain that Shiori's death will bring if she ends up dying. For Shiori's birthday, Yuichi decides to throw her a birthday party the day before her official birthday at a local café and invites several others to join. While Kaori does not show up at the start of the party, she later shows up which completely changes the mood of the party. Afterwards, Kaori finally decides to accept Shiori as her younger sister which makes Shiori happier than she had been in recent months.
The rest of the night is spent at Shiori's favorite place in town: next to a very large fountain in the park. Shiori tells him that night something she neglected to say about the day they first met. That day, Shiori was planning to kill herself by slitting her wrists with a box cutter but after meeting Yuichi and Ayu on her way home from the grocery store, she could not go through with it and wanted to meet both of them again. After a kiss between the two, Shiori falls unconscious in Yuichi's arms; in the 2006 anime series, she leaves to get a drink and disappears. After this point, Shiori is taken back to the hospital and Kaori does not come to school during this time. At the end of the story, Shiori miraculously heals and is not in danger of dying anymore. She confesses to Yuichi in tears that she never wanted to die, and that she was only trying to be strong during those difficult times." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Kanon_characters#Shiori_Misaka]

Eh. The ending to this arc was lame, namely the part at the fountain. She just ran off? Where the hell did she go? :l unless she like...disappeared into the sky or crawled off into a bush and died, it doesn't really make a whole lot of sense.

And was it just me, or was it confusing that he suddenly looked at her butt-print, gasped, and suddenly had some grand revelation and ran off to find the note?

Meh, that's what happens when they adapt a route that focuses too much on the romance in an almost exact form and then go "Oh shit, how do we stop the arc without going into full-on romance". In this part is where Shiori leaves him because any further than that point her health was supposed to fail further and he'd be tending to a dying girl (by this point Yuuichi is basically in-love with her). If you take it in the form that she wants to spare him the pain of watching his most precious one slowly die it makes sense. If you just watch it as the usual Key protagonist who just happened to be a nice guy to her then it makes no sense for her to dissapear so relentlessly, and it also ends anticlimactly because the scene where you find out she's alive is told at the very end of the route, which obviously can't be used because it's the clinching Shiori/Yuuichi scene too. They merely went with an off-comment from her sister saying "she's getting better" which just goes "oh.....wait what?" in your head.

Instead of using the "romantic" scenes between Yuuichi and Shiori they should have focused more on restoring the relationship between the sisters and rather than being so loyal to the material they should have finished the arc with a little "time skip" showing her improvement in the hospital as Kaori tended to her. Just "hearing" she was better was a cop-out.

Wow, so this is end of Shiori's arc then? That was really sudden. I hope the next episode leaves a better conclusion. Her name is mentioned in the preview, but it looks like Yuuichi is crying.

Aya/Nayuki arc next, and i've been waiting for that for awhile. I wonder what Aya's thing about her will be. She's obviously homeless, I don't see any other explanation. I assume there will be more to it though. Is she going to end up being a fairy or an angel, like her wings? I can't wait to find out!

That....was probably the best arc in Kanon so far. Almost got emotional there, especially when Shiori asked "was I smiling the whole time?" trying her best not to cry.

Unlike the previous two arcs, this arc makes you emotional without the show trying too hard or going overboard with what the characters do. Although, I wonder, why can't they have Mai heal use her powers to heal Shiori.

Alrighty then... still not impressed by this series, hopefully the last bit is good. It's kind of entertaining, at least?

Just an epic episode, with these more episodes they really brought more emotions to the sisters and her bday and a surprise for me that Jun got a funny role in it!

The main story is still ongoing but the additional things are really great in it!

Just love it :D

There were some nice feel good vibes from this arc, but nothing serious unfortunately. The end of the last episode was a bit misleading to me and I thought there would be something a little more deep coming out of it, but it disappointed me.

Still waiting on this to top Clannad. >.>

She's supposed to have lost them (at least temporarely) after almost dying. It's kind of one of those inevitable situations you run into in this kind of adaptations because, for example, if Yuuichi befriended Shiori in the game he couldn't have known about Mai's powers (or befriended her to begin with). Trying to make several routes mesh together without bringing along plot holes is kind of hard.

I don't want to be mean but if Shiori doesn't die it would be kind of anti climactic.

That should answer the question for many people.

This episode, along with many others, had me in tears. There was one particular scene that caught me off guard and really hit a certain place in my heart.

I had to go back and rewatch this scene just to take it all in. Really powerful, especially to people who have been through it. Damn, Key. Really amazing episode, I wish it was explained what happened to her at the end, but her character description explains it well enough. Glad to see she didn't die.

ok maybe I've lived a super drama free life but who the heck is surrounded by so many people all with super depressing stories. I mean honestly every person except for Nayuki and her mom has some super depressing life going on, and somehow Yuuichi makes friends with all of them (gonna guess that Ayu has some really depressing story since she was one of the first characters introduced and yet hasn't had her own arc yet, also the fact that they talk about her dreams in the beginning of every episode). Seriously at some point if I was Yuichi I would stop making friends, having to go through that many depressing situations would probably start to turn you suicidal.

Heh, honestly I think you're right but in a different way that you imagine.

That was sad, the arc was better than I thought it would be, too bad it seemed a bit short, but I'm happy they made up in the end. There might still be chance that she recovers, I hope they'll show it if she survives.

So it's time for Nayuki and Ayu, I'm hoping for the best. They are my favorites, especially Ayu. I hope it won't be so sad...though what the hell am I really expecting with Key, huh? :/
I also hope that it won't be a fight between the girls, I really don't wanna see that :/
