THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Just watched the raw and Im trying so hard not to cry. It was so beautiful. The only bad thing was the fact that it was very short (44 minutes). It had the length of two anime episodes. anyway, very Natsume-ish feeling *.* I loved Hotaru and Gin, their natural chemistry, it was just so cute and pure. The voice actors and OST was also great. Really, there should be more movies like this. Overall 9/10 and waiting for subbed version, so i can re-watch it;_; Ƹ̴Ӂ̴Ʒ 飛ぶ |

A girl who is in highschool talking about the time she met masked human-looking youkai who never age(?) since little. Other youkai keep telling her not to touch him. As the time passed, they are thinking about each other. Gin, telling that he's neither human nor youkai because human mother got rid of him when he was baby, inviting him to youkai's festival. It's where they get chance to be human forms. After that Gin accidentally touched a human's boy, they got chance to feel each other for once. He's "Hotaru"? Somehow I don't like the girl's voices (both versions). She's funny, though (which added comedy to the warm feeling of the movie). Modified by tsubasalover, 02-22-12, 11:40 PM |

Watched it raw, that was so beautiful T_T I teared up at the ending D: especially that kiss scene omg and what happened afterwards DX The way the youkais look out for Gin was pretty cool too never suspected Gin's background story though, that was a surprise for me Loving the Natsume-ish style animation as expected <3 9/10 for me too due to the length :I but other than that everything else was great PS. Gin = Ikemen |

Liked it a lot more than I thought I would - it was a terrific adaption of the manga, even surpassing it (and not just by a little bit). Had me one the verge of tears a couple of times. Best anime I've watched in a good while, yes. 7/10 |

Bittersweet! I thought I wouldn't be that touched but it was so sad at the final moment that I cried a little. It's a good short movie! |

Finally, after waiting for so long…! Deep down, I knew I would love it. I wasn’t wrong about it. I don’t have enough words to describe how happy and melancholic I feel right now. Oh my, how can it be so warm and beautiful yet at the same time leave such profuse gap on my heart? How? Gin was a sweetheart and Hotaru a bubbly and candid little girl —who probably had gotten used to take hits to her head every thirty seconds or so after her meeting with Gin—. I loved the way they interacted, how nostalgic and fragile those memories were as the seasons passed by, how the blazing summer days led to their reencounter, how time seemed to stop and then get back on track… I shed tears when Gin was slowly fading away, beckoning Hotaru to hug him, the permanently denied touch both of them wanted, as the fear of vanishing came to naught; the fluttering fireflies were the proof he once had been there. It wasn’t her fault or his. However, she gave him the only thing he never could have in life in those last moments, and that itself was enough – enough to know that it was all right somehow. That he would always be there. While it’s quite a shame it couldn’t be longer, I also believe it’s wonderful the way it is. I’ll re-watch it when subs are out, to check how much I missed and couldn’t catch. |

Yuki Midorikawa is a great writer, I loved the bitter-sweet ending. I admit that I was a little bit disappointed that Gin disappeared just because some random kid touched him, but now that I think about it, that makes it even more beautiful, he vanished in a moment they never thought he would and for such an unimportant reason. The youkai in this movie are very different than in Natsume Yuujinchou...they were so sweet and caring...the scene in which they found Gin was one of my favourites. Midorikawa-sensei made such a simple yet astonishing story, the little ideas like that “hand holding” with a stick were great. |

Such a wonderful story..... The story truly portrays a magnificent tale between the Hotaru and Gin. though many says that the film was a bit too long, I feel the extra parts that made the film "long" helped the story feel deeper, giving more chances for viewers to connect to the film..... The illustration, background and character design are all fine and not too sophisticated, giving a gentle tone to the story. The music flowed well as the story went on, not disrupting the mood. the base condition of the story was very simple, yet gave a nice outcome: "If you touch me, I'll disappear..." That was so touching. The tempo of the story went well, not being choppy, neither being too stagnant. I loved this film, even with its bitter-sweet ending..... 10/10 is my score! |

We were complaining about the length of the movie for it being too short, not too long, loool. Ƹ̴Ӂ̴Ʒ 飛ぶ |

Just watched it and it was so sweet but so sad. I literally cried at the end. Still it was a great story and I really loved Hotaru and Gin's relationship. Modified by CrystalLake, 02-27-12, 1:23 AM |

Wonderful, just so damn wonderful. Once again Natsume anime staff delivers, it was so sad that Gin disappeared but I knew that was going to happen. The animation, music, voice acting = A effort. I honestly thought Gin was voiced by Kamiya Hiroshi (Natsume's VA), but then I found out it was by Kouki Uchiyama (Yuuta - Kimi to Boku, Daryl - Guilty Crown). Talented! 9/10 - I wish Natsume Yuujinchou looked like this every episode, or at least whenever an actual episode about Reiko would pop up. Finally it's subbed! I really enjoyed it, even my wife who doesn't really like anime loved it. So sweet, yet so sad....I really wish they could've been together! But, I still think it was a good relationship, even though it couldn't last. Gin is awesome in his own melancholy way, and the mask was a nice touch. It gave him a very surreal feeling. And, Hotaru was so sweet and innocent. But, why didn't she kiss him?!?! It would've made it that much better! 9/10 only because it wasn't longer and because she didn't kiss him! Urahara Out!! |

Wow, amazing. I expected no less from Brain's Base and Midorikawa. But damn Midorikawa-sensei know how to rip your heart out with her stories. Learning from Natsume, I knew it was gonna be bittersweet, but I still wanted some hope there at the end... gonna cry myself to sleep now. |

It was a LOT like Natsume. But that is not a bad thing. Very touching story, heart grabber. I enjoyed this a lot. |

I was not expecting anything this good. Absolutely blown away by this anime. I went into it thinking it would just be Natsume the movie, and while it does give off a Natsume feel. The emotions it projects were outstanding. The feel of the characters was amazing, every scene you could feel what was going on, even if nothing was said; no it was better when nothing was said. I extremely enjoyed this and would recommend this to anyone. |

I can't wait to watch it, but I will say the manga story almost moved me to tears. It is similar to Natsume in feel, but the story felt like it stood on it's own and stood tall. I'm excited. ![]() |
