I have been, once, punched on the chin so I guarantee that K.O.-tic uppercut on the chin felt really really bad.

5/5
I would continue watching this gem xD

I guess Ippo will start to make sensation! And I guess uppercut will become is speciality in some way. Miyata seem to be really shaken up after that defeat, I don't think the father visited the coach to thanks him like he said...

It sure does. One of the slang terms for this particular spot on the chin is the "knockout button".

The Site Below said:
[...]A knockout punch snaps the head to the back or side and smashes the brain against the skull. The impact may traumatize the brainstem, resulting in loss of motor control. Blood supply to the brain can be cut off.

Woah woah amazing episode.

The 2nd round was kind of boring because Miayata was only clinching, but this was needed for the upcoming rounds which were epic as fuck. The 3rd round was completely on Miyata's advantage, he pressured Ippo so much but the bell saved Ippo from the punch in the end. The last round was obviously the highlight of this episode, a motionless uppercut which very slightly touched Miyata's chin but was enough to numb his body. And thus Ippo won the match.

5/5 for the episode and a solid 9 for the series, this is great.

I don't know if that specific spot always works, but I've seen it happen in boxing and UFC where someone seems fine but keeps stumbling over like a drunk when they try to get up. Like they can't control their body lol.

First win for Ippo and first lost for Miyata

Awww happy Ippo is making me smiled

I wish there is a pro boxer here to explain us whether that chin thingy is real or not

I'm surprised the author let Ippo win this one :0

I guess it's alright to win out of pure luck sometimes, hah.

At least Miyata will fire up even more after losing.

Can't wait til Ippo looks as badass as those intermission cards *O* and has real pro fights, aaahhhhhhhh~~~

Damn Miyata has some mad dodging skills, if he only was a little bit farther from Ippo's fist he probably could have dodged Ippo's motionless short uppercut and won the match.

It initially looked like Miyata was getting really desperate and he was in a way but he eventually turned the tables on Ippo after a tactical decision to get more time to recover mid-fight. The whole fight was thrilling and the way how Ippo clinched the victory by grazing Miyata with his deadly uppercut was both awesome for the former and tough to watch for the latter.

I'm hoping that their relationship will deepen from here throughout! Miyata better not quit because of this.

Only a sparring, but with these characters it was so captivating.

It wasn't a complete loss for Miyata, but imagine getting pushed so hard by a rookie :S Good for Ippo, tho, his work paid off and seeing him and the others all satisfied was nice.

really loves how ippo didn't won moriyata in combat advantage but in minor thing.

what i really loves about HnI matches that in other sport anime there will be commentary all around, but in HnI it is so minor.

Cool fight! Though, 'was kinda betting on Miyata winning instead, haha. Ah well, that was mad interesting to watch and really got me all riled up, punching the screen and whatnot.
Judging from the bicycle girl in the last episode, seems there'll be romance sooner or later. Only hope poor Miyata doesn't get duped to a supporting role cause of it :/
The show's pretty long so surely he and Ippo are gonna get plenty of development further down the road!

Phenomenal fight!

I have a feeling I just witnessed peak. Everything is already coming together in such a harmonious way. Ippo continues to win my heart as one of the most genuine protagonist I've yet seen in a battle shonen, and we're not even at episode ten! I knew he wanted to land that uppercut, but I couldn't have foreseen just how much more dramatic the fight would get coming to that point. He and Miyata's rivalry is clearly only beginning.
