According to Jiji.com, Horiguchi Fumiaki was elected to be the mayor of Yawata city. He is the father of Horiguchi Yukiko, the animator of Kyoto Animation. She drew a portrait of her father for the PR poster of the election. Cartoon portrait of the mayer Horiguchi Horiguchi Fumiaki has been serving as the vice mayor of the city since 2010. He's not some guy off the street who conned his way into office on the very dubious "advantage" of being related to an illustrator/animator nobody outside of anime fandom would have ever heard of.
