man naruto is pretty popular in the US

This is probably largely due to the Ninja stereotype.

Naruto has been the most popular manga in the US since its release.

And I believe it only got even more popular the moment the anime adaptation of Naruto was aired on Toonami. It had to have garnered a huge fanbase just for that (not to mention Shippuuden is being aired now on Disney XD) In comparison, Bleach is on [adult swim], but perhaps there are less people (kids) who could stay up late enough (or even allowed to) watch on that channel. As for OP, the 4kids dub led to it eventually being taken by funimation, and then finally becoming taken off the channels, thus it led to a lot less exposure to the U.S., as opposed to the other two.

I just think Naruto's exposure on TV might have led to it becoming more popular here in the U.S. then it should have been.

I'd say Pokemon was the most popular anime in the US ever. I mean, remember how much of hit it was back in the day? The trading card game, the games, the tons and tons of related merchandise then the TV show and the movies. It was even on South Park! Pokemon rocked the nation in a way no other anime series ever has or likely ever will again.
