Movie and Fourth Season of Jewelpet Series Announced - Forums

According to the official website, a movie of Jewelpet titled "Eiga Jewelpet Sweets Dance Princess" was announced to be premiered on August 11th.

"Onegai My Melody Yu & Ai" will be shown in tandem with the Jewelpet movie. The fourth season of Jewelpet titled "Jewelpet Kira☆Deko!" will start from April 7th.

Precure is much more enjoyable to this, maybe it's because it has well some action and in the case of Smile a lot of comedy. Although both Precure and Jewelpet are made mainly for merchandising, Precure has otaku appeal as well as appeal to young girls because the figures are bought by the adults also the BD/DVD of the movies sell due to a cheaper price point and of course the Otaku seem to buy those as well. Jewelpet doesn't sell much in the BD/DVD department.

Well, Precure doesn't really sell all that much on DVD/BD. Couple thousand a volume at most, and often not even that. The movies sell okay, but that's normal for kids' shows. Precure certainly has engaged otaku in ways other kids' shoujo shows have not, but that's still only a tiny sliver of their success.

First Jewelpet anime is trashy. Jewelpet Tinkle, the second anime, has some lolicon fans. Don't know about the third Jewelpet series. And yes, you're right about BD/DVD selling less. Tinkle, I think, sold only about 1400 copies. Though since these are aired on mornings, ratings matter more than DVD/BD sales.

Don't know why they're getting a movie, though. It may be a coincidence that Onegai My Melody is also getting a movie (maybe because of Sanrio).
