Well first I search it by Genre, then I'll just try it right away. No need reading the plot cause sometimes it just messes up my urge to read it. Then I start reading right away, I'll prolly judge it after a few chapters weather it's readable or not. :)

Simple i look at these thing before reading a new series:
- Genres - if it's something i like i usually look into it major factor is deciding to read it or not.
- Art - always important since it can be the deciding factor, but some art suits different genres.
- Authors - always nice to know who did art and/or story, and to see their reputation.
- Ranking - High ranking series are not always the best, many great ones are in the thousands, sadly.
- Reviews and Synopsis - Just to see if it's worth reading or not, nice to know what the story is beforehand.

That's the what manga is my eyes go through before being read...

I'll skim over the cover art, if it holds my attention I'll read the summary.
If the summary interests me, I'll read the first few chapters and decide whether to continue from there.

Check the picture and the average rating then the description and the genre and
then the rating of the first 2 reviews and maybe read them a little.
I am really tough about picking a manga because I always try to find something
really good and if the rating will be less than 8 then I will most likely wont even
try it.

Haha... It takes me hours to decide what to read...

1. Search for something of the genre I'm into on that particular day
2. Read the summary of those that fit
3. Chose 2-3 series that look interesting and check if they're complete/regularly updated
3.1 Open a random chapter and check the art
3.2. Check the reviews on MAL and MU
4. On a whim, chose a manga that have nothing to do with what I was searching for, and read it.

This happens on the average of once a week. XD

Basically if it's really long, highly rated, and it's a shounen I've downloaded the whole thing already.

Mostly art. If art sucks, I wouldn't read it regardless of the rating and how good the story is.

Well, to be honest, I first judge manga by its cover. If I like the art style, I'll read the synopsis and take note of the genres. If it sounds interesting I'll give it a try. Basically, if the first chapter manages to wow me or even simply seems like it has potential, I'll continue reading. ((I also sometimes take the length of the manga into consideration- I'm more likely to start reading a manga under, say, 50 chapters than one over.))

1. Art (Not that I base all manga that i read on its art style. Still, there are some manga where I can't take its art style. I'm somewhat picky when it comes to this stuff.)
2. Plot or Description (Well, I think this is the most important part. That is, to find the manga interesting or not.)
3. Ratings and Reviews (I always read reviews from other users that's why I'm on this site. It's very useful so as to prevent frustrations and regrets on how much time you waste on a shitty story.)
4. Genre (well, there are times when I don't feel reading a certain genre that I really like. It depends on my mood, really.) .

i don't really care that much on the title. Just these 4 is enough.

also, if a manga is ongoing, i will leave it until it reach 30 something and above chapters. that's why i prefer reading a complete series or one-shots.

Priority:

1. Art
2. Story(based on synopsis)
3. Mangaka(if there are previous works that i've read)
4. Status(either completed or ongoing)
5. Length(I try to avoid anything that goes beyond 200+ chapters)
6. Scanlators(if there are active scanlators working on the manga)

Art->Characters->Story
As a child, I was told that society is a melting pot of talents; knowledge and experience combined to form important alloys that will contribute to mankind. When I got to highschool, however, I thought that it's more like a river in which the water represents our peers while we ourselves are the stones in the river. Constant erosion by mindless majority sheeping has made us lose our unique edge. After I hit the age of 18, I realized that I've been wrong all along. Society is no melting pot. Society is no river. Society is a person, a very skilled rapist, and he has fucked us all.

I buy all my manga so I either watch the anime and want to buy the original japanese books to read and reward the mangaka. Or I buy the magazines for one manga and then read other manga and see if they are good. Or mangaka I like I will follow them through their careers. Or word of mouth or website like MAL recommendations.

genre and art-style; the art style tells me a lot about what's gonna be happening (moe-moe kyunn generic loli-tier characters usually turns into ecchi yuri with no meaning while styles with more thought often reveal a good story).

I check the "Top Manga" list, and check the genre(s) of it.
Also, the illustrations play a big role in whether I read it or not.
Eg. Hunter x Hunter-I love the series, but I can't read it because of the poor illustration in Ant arc (Ik it gets much better further on). :(

If I'm browsing manga in real life, I usually go by the art on the cover... that's what makes me pick it up. If the synopsis on the back is boring, I put it back! Easy!

I spend a lot of time browsing different mangas on MAL as well, I've found two or three good ones on here.

First I go by genre, then I choose the popular titles of that genre and see if the story sounds any good and then if I like the art I go and read it.

Genre, art style ( i don't like big eyes/moe series..) and of course a story.

And if somehow they get their precious thing back, they'll forget its value again.

I'd choose a manga for its art. I feel more comfortable reading a manga drawn the way I want it to be. Usually, it would be shoujo style. Like Zekkyou Gakkyu, for example.

Also for its title and genre, if the title is unique enough, I'd immediately read it. If ever I see both ecchi and harem on it, it quickly loses my attention. Mystery and shoujo would definitely make me read it.

Cover, I guess? You could say "Don't judge a book by its cover" but I don't know. I always do that. If I like it I'm checking genre and such. If it's shoujo/shounen/horror I'm bought. I'm always checking charadesign as well, but it's usually thing you can see at the cover, so no problem.
Usually I'm reading manga if I've seen anime version already, and it doesn't really matter if I liked it or not.

Lately I've been finding a lot of stuff to my taste when I search for slice of life series and filter out all the romance and pornography genres. What's left is usually the kind of "people doing absolutely nothing of importance in pleasant settings" stories I like.

I'm more of an anime watcher than a manga reader, but I think I would first check to see if the manga's completed (ah, I can't stand waiting for volumes to come out!), if it's in the library, and then ratings and reviews.
