Since I don't believe every metalhead is a close-minded black metal mongoloid..
Do you listen other music than Metal too?

I myself like many other genres outside Metal. Progressive Rock for example is maybe even better than Metal, sometimes. (Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Jethro Tull, Porcupine Tree, Kingston Wall, Rush, Genesis.. ;))

Electronic also.. Ambient and Dark Ambient are nice atmospheric genres. IDM when I'm feeling intelligent asshole. (Aphex Twin, The Flashbulb - are nice)

Then there is: Post-Rock, Shoegaze, Mathcore, Alternative Rock (some), Trip-Hop, Zeuhl, Noise & Noise Rock (some), Experimental Rock, Psychedelic Rock, Psytrance, j-pop, touhou music...

Hope it's allowed to make such blasphemous thread in metal club. D:

Just trying to bring some life for this awesome club ;_;

Everything? Only genre I detest as a whole would be danceband, a luckily uniquely Swedish phenomenon.

My favourite non-metal genres would currently be progressive rock, post-rock, jazz, happy hardcore/j-core, and romanticist classic music. A bit of electropop is also nice. I expect these preferences to have changed 'til next week.

True, it's pretty high (I think I saw someone with 190-ish once, and a few at 160 but those are all weirdos), but is metal any of my top tags? No.

Which means I fail.

My OMI is broken and hasn't updated for over 2 months. So here's my tag cloud instead. :<

If you're too lazy, or just don't care enough to click the link. Outside of metal, I mainly listen to Drone, dubstep, IDM, industrial, shoegaze, minimalism, progressive rock, contemporary scandanavian folk (Not to be confused with the industrial-esque folk genre known as neofolk), hip-hop, noise, jazz, classical, post rock, hardcore/metal hybrids such as mathcore, grind, and sludge.

The only genres that I haven't had a chance to explore yet are classic rock, lounge/downtempo/chillout, EDM, country, punk rock... and probably a million more genres I've never even heard of.

I listen to a lot of anime music even though most of it is the style of music I wouldn't get anywhere near normally, but it being from anime somehow makes me like it. I used to listen to a lot of visual kei, but not as much lately. I also like stuff like The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix and the Rolling Stones. Every once and a while, out of nostalgia, I'll not skip a numetal song that comes up on shuffle.

Gotta be Prog. Rock. The Tangent, King Crimson, Orne, Van Der Graaf Generator, Porcupine Tree, Magenta, stuff like that.

And who doesn't love Blues? Arlo West, Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy, Eric Johnson, Jonny Lang, it's simple and it sounds pretty samey but it's awesome. Blues-Rock too.

I also dabble a bit in Alternative Rock. Stuff like Smashing Pumpkins is really all I listen to in that area, though.

I believe mathcore is metal. A subgenre of Metalcore, being more experimental and technical.
Otherwise most of my music isn't metal ._. and it sounds very much like it, if not heavier.

I like very certain Jrock (the few that actually have good guitars and singers, kind of like Theatre Brook's song for Durarara), loads of experimental that generally also fall into metal category for their sound (Lye By Mistake, anyone? they're my obsession.), guitar solos such as the ones by Fernando Miyata...

I've been a pianist for quite long, too, so I enjoy some piano pieces from different anime (specially Clannad, beatiful music) and other relatively calm OST (Toradora's slow songs, Mushishi...). I also have to admit being a big fan of Les Luthiers, classic-ish musicians who are also comedians, unfortunately they're southamerican (I think) so they speak spanish, you'd have to find subs for them. I also ocassionally enjoy some punk, ranging from Refused to Rise Against, and some acoustic songs (see my "Acoustic songs" thread right in this club).

Depends much on the band I'd say. Some are closer to metal (like Between the Buried and Me) and then others are more in the vein of Hardcore Punk (like Converge).

Also hah what an old post I got here. These days I mostly listen to electronica and industrial music.

I'm also an open-minded metal listener. I kind of like chill out and electronic music.
Some example: Oi Va Voi, Klaxons, Röyksopp, Kenny G, some Jrock bands.
Also since I'm Turk, I like Turkish folk music and protest music, like: Ruhi Su, Sadık Gürbüz..etc.
Btw I like to listen non-metal guitar virtuoso, and related bands like Gipsy Kings..etc.
