Well I for one though the entry of Nimura was more cool and funny in the anime version.

Thanks to you I picked the manga too.

I hated the karaoke part, what the hell was that anyways? Nimura entry sucked in my opinion. I mean what can beat finding your mate sleeping with three girls?

You should feel only comedy in the ecchi scene in this series. It does create a guilt but don't let that fool you. I swear I ROFL really hard at the breast groping of Hina. It was think of it as missing her mother pre-syndromes. It got far worse in the place but calmed down in thee end.

Sometimes kids under 5 will need their mother and if they can find means to sooth that then they will even if something as ecchi as grabbing breasts if they remind them of their mother than it is for sure a good thing. If not the kid will get worse with time. (I did some courses in child psychology in College)

Question is how long can they keep up the front?

OK yeah but the change to me is refreshing. Even if it was different I find on par with satisfaction as the manga. Sry that's all there is to me really.

Deep analysis and that's exactly why i love you.
How sad you not a woman...

My mixed feelings are because all I knew about this series was that it was where the character copied from Haruhi came from (Sora).
Normally I don't watch ecchi and thought that once in a while would be nice.
I almost drop it.
In the first episode I stopped before the half, but for some reason given a second chance and the result is that I'm enjoying it. Really do not expect much, but not seem to be some malicious history.
I'm going to recommend.

This long voyage to get home was unnecessary.

Inb4 2 ep before it end we learn that the parents survived but were hospitalised in a foreign country for the duration of the anime and are currently on the way home.
Then loldrama about the three girls bidding goodbye to our MC that'll have gotten the club girl (or be on the way to).
Happy ending.

I hope this won't happen.

LUNACULAR SPARKLE!

And I'm really concerned about Hina's state of mind in the coming episodes. Learning that her parents passed away might scar her for life.

This, it seemed like she got the wrong idea about his sister too with the looks she gave when they were leaving, so it will be interesting to see how she reacts considering how "different" she really is, makes me wonder how someone like her would react.

It's the reality of the situation that I LOVE about this anime so far. It's all the really simple and kind of a take on everyday life for some people. But, I've never really seen such a bitter sweet side to that kind of situation. The fact that it is bitter sweet, makes me question whether or not they made it like that to appeal to the audience. Though, at the same time, I understand not wanting to make the anime just a depressing reality of the actual things people have to go through when faced with a situation like this. Looking forward to the next!

Karaoke dinner is kinda(most) expensive, If I am not mistaken .

I don't think its legal for 4 people living in such a small apartment.Tokyo would have been more strict.

The girl will left some smell of shit when they finish doing their business in the toilet, but I think they will be less concern about it in the future lol.

The ending part was very heartwarming. IMO, this anime needs to lay down on the maliciousness. They are a family even if they are not related, so why not tone down with the thoughts that he will always have ecchi thoughts for those girls? They should be comfortable with each other. Otherwise, this would've been a very beautiful and family-centered anime. Those malicious thoughts from the characters are just what I think are not good.

Good thing there isn't much tsun tsun from Sora. I really hate that part of her. As for Miu, she is my favorite of the three. Hina is just sooo adorable that I want to adopt her! ;)
Still looking for a signature.

This was really charming, but a lot more like the first half of Usagi Drop than it is like a typical harem comedy. Clearly he didn't think things all the way through when he ran off with his nieces. I suspect he'll have a few more challenges in enrolling them in a new school and figuring out what to do with Hina while he attends classes. Society isn't very kind to single parents, particularly when they also attend school.
Please don't feed the trolls!

Yeah I was WTF at the bathroom part? Why would I a give a rat's ass of my 14 year old niece's sound of pissing or shitting? Why would she care? Does she know I listen to her bathroom business? Well I wish she would not think but Sora is super shy so yeah.

Could she have OCD of cleaning?

For Lord's sake this is ironic comedy at most. I think it was about the period and they left a mess there or there was sound of it. Else who cares of piss/shit sounds. Oh please.

So the whole thing was based on the super shy factor of Sora?

OMG If you marry her I won't be able to shit nor piss around her when she uses the bathroom, how will she even get used to a guy naked.

IMO Sora is OVER 9000 sensitive, shy and sensible to things.

Come to think of it she over shy with the porn mags mention by Miu while she LOL it. Hmmmmmmm, there is a point of proof here.

Was looking forward to this episode for ages. Was not disappointed.

Despite looking like a trashy anime (probably cause anime with this art is usually crap), this turned out pretty damn good so far. Though taking into account the first half of ep 1, I can already see this show sucking later when it gets back to that stuff.

Disagree. Fanservice here and there is a good non slice of life element. See what happen to Usagi Drop, is sell barely 1000 copies for BD. Usagi Drop was a commercial failure because slice of life and too much realism don't sell, people want watch things that don't happen in real life, people want fun and want dream.
Papakiki should stay more close to the novel, show a bit of ecchi and comedy at the same time and less realism and slice of life, so Bds will sell more and the chance for a second season will increase. Remember that foreigner who watch this show and their opinion matter zero, what matter is japanese fandom and how much merchandise around this title they will buy.
They already remove lot of fanservice compared to the manga, and was a bad move for a mediocre show like this (for mediocre i mean that is not bad but in not so original too to keep more fans interested in the long run). This is what i think.

Even so that is because the industry gave out the wrong mentality to sink in. It was not like that in the 90s and people fuck all cared for fan service. It was all about the story and if it has any in it then fine with deal with it.

Now....what sells 100% Fan service. OK! Let's continue with it. Don't get me wrong I got used to it. Does not mean I like how the industry changed from the 90s.

BTW you are wrong about the fan service. There is nothing denying they will put more of it or add scenes or specials. Look at Mashiroiro Symphony, towel on a girl and not towel with full blown view in the BDs? Could be possible for this series. Sora already has a version of her naked with details made by someone. So it comes down to this, how will the balance be affected exactly?

Well fanservice =/= top 10 seller for the season, however fanservice does equate to decent amounts of sales for the most part. I know some do end up top sellers for their respective seasons (Infinite Stratos, Ro-Kyu-Bu, Dog Days), but they all had another factor as well that gave them top spots.

Infinite Stratos: Charlotte enough said

Ro-Kyu-Bu: Designed specifically for the otaku in mind especially for the lolicon types, novels sold extremely well and got awards. Character CDs sold extremely well. Merchandising is not as heavy as IS and Dog Days but it sells like hotcakes.

Dog Days: Seiyuu factor (it had many top seiyuu that anyone in Japan and even the US will like), it also has a side story manga that sold extremely well, merchandising is heavy in this series. There's a heavy music factor in it too, with both OP and ED selling extremely well for months and Scarlet Knight got 96th in 2011's yearly Oricon ratings.

Going from a nice mid class family home to a cheap apartment can be a huge shock and it did seem like the girls where having some troubles with it.
The place is big enough for one person but it's cramped for two are more people seems like the girls will have some adopting to do.
And the same goes for Segawa he was used to having the place alone but now he has the girls around whats worse two of them are going to puberty which makes them even worse to deal with.

Judging from his aunt's call Segawa didn't fully think this true yet which does mean he will have a hard time ahead of himself.
What makes things worse is that he needs to complete his university which is almost a impossible task while raising three girls by himself.

Times has changed indeed, anime '90 was more original, but today everything is less original because everything is already explored in a way or another. Is a risk and difficult produce something original and less commercial. Fanservice is the only thing that can help to sell more, is because a lot of novels that don't have much fanservice in the anime version they have more.
As i said before fans nowadays like less realism in anime but like more exagerated content. For this reason i think that remove ecchi from Papakiki and turn it like Usagi Drop will be a huge mistake, expecially can receive bad reputation from the novel/manga fans that will decrease sell of bds (and i'm not speaking about the lolis because they don't have much fanservice anyway, but more about Raika, if you read the manga and spin-offs you know what i'm talking about). I honestly prefer holy lights and black band knowing that they will be removed in the home video edition, instead of changing entire scenes completely. Well this is my POV, so if producers think that is better in this way good for them but i'm still skeptical.

ps: Indeed KnJ is a great and deconstrction manga. Really like it.

Well at least they're pretty much settled in for now, but it'll only get harder from here on. He'll need to work to be able to feed them. He and the girls also have to go to school. The lack of space and privacy is also going to be a problem sooner or later. For now everything is new and exciting, but when they'll have to live there for quite a while it'll become bothersome.

Overall a pretty sad and heartwarming episode. Hina is so cute but I feel sorry for her as well, the kid hasn't got a clue. =(

I have no problem with Raika nor Sora even. It's Miu and Hina.

Mainly because they are in grade school.

I will share something in regards to that. I read an article of a grade schooler being a prostitute and using dating sites. Ever since then, well grade school kids + ecchi is either for me ignored or plain annoying TBH.

Also you are right about the industry and that is the main problem. Ideas and implementing them and most of all original works.

I love this anime so far, you can so tell that he loves the whole family thing. They're gonna be a good family :3 until something serious ruins their fun >.>

Freaking adorable. And horribly depressing. But I cant help but compare it to the manga...
They just do things differently and it bugs me.
The anime version is not really bad per se. In-fact it adds a few things I would love to see in the manga as well. however I wish they merged the ideas from both rather than have two almost completely separate views on the same world. To get the full story, I would recommend watching and reading this one. So far my preference is with the manga. However that is not going to stop me from downloading/making adorable animated gifs of the girls though (‐^▽^‐)
