Best selling Light Novel volumes of 2015/all time*.
*that there is data for Now updated with weekly data back to 31st March 2008!

There is no such thing as shit taste. Only idiots who think everyone should have the same taste as they do.

So finally Horizon #1 breached the 20k barrier

nice, hope they will announce season 3 soon LOL

2000? depends on the production cost, the result might vary but normally that's not good at all...

but well it's kinda sad that Chihayafuru is quite low compared to other titles

well I think it will do better than Age though LOL

Phi-Brain has twice lower pre-orders. And the thing that vol. 1 had ~1k sales so it's really going up even if it doesn't mean much.

phi-brain was produced by Sunrise so low sales might not hurt them that bad (they even announced 2nd Season for it) since they have another money machines like Gundam UC, Tiger & Bunny and the newest is Horizon

But Chihayafuru was produced by Madhouse (Haven't seen them doing well in term of sales lately) so idk, bankruptcy soon? =(

Not too unusual for this week. Next week more stuff comes out and it'll be higher.

Did it two weeks ago actually, barely. This is the restock taking effect.

Yeah, there's no way 2.3k is making a profit. Chihayafuru is too nicely animated for that to be possible. However, as long as it is moving a lot more of the manga, that's all that matters, and thus anime pays for itself that way. I can almost guarantee you nobody bankrolling the Chihayafuru anime ever bet on getting significant anime disc sales.

I wish. They waited too long, and Shana is already mostly dead as a franchise. Despite the third season just being mindblowingly good, way better than the first two (which were also good).

Sales don't matter for Phi Brain either (apparently...). Also, it's not really accurate to say v1 has 1k. What v1 had was about 900 DVDs, and an unknown number of BDs (2037 or less that week). So it's not that v1 only sold ~900, it's that we don't have the data. There's little doubt that v1 sold at least a few hundred more than v2 though. We know DVDs sold more for v1 so one can assume BDs dropped somewhat as well.

Dunno, imo the third season is just a nonsensical crap all the way. Can't say I loved the first two much, but they were at least of above average-to-good quality. But this one is just like, fight-fight-fight with incoherent story and almost no meaningful character interaction and development. But maybe it feels this way because it's been a long time since the previous season indeed. :/

dtshyk, you missed Haganai v1 BD ranking again, or maybe it wasn't in the source you get since it's outside the top 10: http://jbbs.livedoor.jp/bbs/read.cgi/anime/9034/1327326843/3475

--(*19) *1,437 **9,201 *2 僕は友達が少ない 第1巻

Haganai v1 total is currently 11,984.

I question if we're even watching the same show, because I find every one of these points to be utterly the opposite of what I'm seeing.

Few surprises didn't expect shana sales to be that low but it has been 3 years since the second season could be expected. Ben-to, Kimi to Boku, and Chihayafuru aren't doing well as I thought they should be as well as Mirai Nikki especially.

Looks like one can expect a second season of Haganai on the way with these sales? :D~?

Unicorn is still in the top 6 for DVD, but is gone completely from blu-ray. I could've sworn it was ranked number 3 last time this was done lol.

Really? Chihayafuru animation is really limited, so many stills.. Not saying that's bad considering the nature of the series, they don't need many animation for anime about karuta. the art(char design) is pretty tho (although the background very bland)

And art =/= animation.

My problem is that it introduced all kinds of new characters without any kind of development (maybe it was better in the LN), and makes us supposed to care about them. I only watch the show for Shana, not all of these random characters, so its been a pretty disappointing third season to me.

And art =/= animation.

Animation in the sense of "the stuff you see on screen". The overall visual presentation. Call it art, or visuals, or whatever the appropriate word is. It's just a very nice looking show with what seems like reasonably high production values, i.e. nobody could look at Chihayafuru and think it's a throwaway production in A/V quality like, say, Kill Me Baby obviously is (we know where JC's budget didn't go this season).

Certainly it's not a high budget action series like Gundam 00 or Fate/Zero or Guilty Crown or whatever. But it's a few steps up from what they probably could have gotten away with.

But yeah, Mashiro-iro may not even chart on DVD and will do less than 2k BDs. It'll probably be lucky to be a 2k average series. Kind of a shame.

Haha yeah that's pretty awesome. I also rather like "UN-Blu Volume 1 Limited Edition GO-ray". How in the... what made it think the word was supposed to be separated that way? And where do I buy me a GO-ray player?

It kinda breaks my heart that crap like Horizon and Symphogear sell, because it'll mean that they'll keep on producing crap like that, especially since those require far less thinking and planning. Well, some people are obviously enjoying it at least.

As long as they continue to produce some anime that at least seem like they made an honest attempt at telling a serious well-thoughtout plot than it should be fine. There's always novel/VN/manga adaptations.

Symphogear isn't even out yet and there's no indication it is going to sell particularly well, so I'm not sure where you got that from. Mizuki Nana's popularity is not indicative of Symphogear's popularity.

because it'll mean that they'll keep on producing crap like that

But unless you import the shows you like (I don't know, do you?), it would be hard to see why Japan would want to cater to your preferences. I import the shows I like specifically to support getting more shows like them made, so they'll cater to my preferences. It's the only way to have any influence at all.

especially since those require far less thinking and planning.

[citation needed]

Well, some people are obviously enjoying it at least.

Which is the point of entertainment so I guess there's no problem after all.

nice to see Tamayura doing relativelly well, ok on a stable level
and it feels even nicer to support it with buying it - yet prices of sending are ughhh and grrrrr to say the least :D

2,055 in that list actually, and that's Vol. 2. Vol. 1 did 2,325 BDs and approximately 840 DVDs, though DVDs weren't in the top 100. Average will still be around 2k for BDs (maybe a little less), DVDs are only going to make a normal top 100 if there's a really slow week. You were quoting me making a guess based on Amazon Ranking Stalker's preorder rankings before the disc was out. Which were only off by a couple hundred anyways. It's still crappy sales, unfortunately.

Yeah, shipping is always a pain and Tamayura is surprisingly expensive in and of itself. I didn't quite realize until recently that it's one of the costliest shows I've bought measured in ¥/ep. Worth it, though. Such a lovely show.
