Wikipedia led a web blackout to protest the US passing a law that would give them the power to censor the world's Internet. Massive public pressure is forcing a tipping point in Congress. Let's push it over the edge today and save the Internet!
As concerned global citizens, we call on you to stand for a free and open Internet and vote against both the Protect IP Act and the Stop Online Piracy Act. The Internet is a crucial tool for people around the world to exchange ideas and work collectively to build the world we all want. We urge you to show true global leadership and do all you can to protect this basic pillar of our democracies worldwide.
Congress final decision is on Jan. 24th so lets kill those bills.

The bills have been shelved for awhile, and the internet protesting was listed as one reason why. I don't recall seeing so many sites united together to fight anything like this before-they did a good job.

I did it and I feel good for doing my part to save the internet from those bastards ^_^

For now anyway. Both of the bills creators say they will fight to keep them alive.

Yeah it is pretty sad. though one thing to think about is... megaupload was taken down which means the laws are already there for them to use... which means what is the real reason for these bills. it is certainly not needed for the proposed uses.
