If the posibility exited for a visual novel section on MAL, what would you be willing to do? (Please also post your answer.)
| Phew, I'm back. We could add links ourselves in the descriptions. That's not exactly what I had in mind. I thought about a feature allowing us to add links to original VNs in the "Related Anime" field, under the synopsis. So, for example in case of F/SN TV series, along it's manga adaptation, alternative versions, summary etc., there will be also an "Original/Related Visual Novel" field, with link to VNDB entry. It can be done with one extra field in the anime/manga adding form, working just like the one for other relations, but linking to VNDB instead of other MAL entries (ideally, using just the v### code instead of copying whole links - for example v11 for F/SN). It should be easy enough to do, and won't be anywhere near as taxing as 3000+ new entries.Seeing as the administration was always clearly against adding the new medium to the database, if they will still deny our original request, then perhaps at least something like that will pass. Sure, it's nowhere near perfect, as it only covers the VNs with anime adaptations, and won't let you make a list of them. But hey, I mean it only as the first step on the way to finally adding VNs to MAL. If everything will be working fine, it's just one little push away from adding simple VN entries with links to VNDB, just as Aza suggested. Besides, it should increase the interest in the medium and with that, increase the number of people supporting this noble cause. Maybe. :P And I just find it quite annoying, that every second crappy anime adaptation has a relations list filled with links to various sequels/alternative versions/mangas etc., but lacks a single mention about the original work. Come on, that's just stupid. -.-' |

| @Az Ah. That would make sense. Wouldn't be a good idea to try and cram all of the system and version info on an MAL. @Pabloc Something like that would work, but as you said, VN only titles would be left out. It's something we could talk about if they're still adamant that VN's have no place on MAL. Certainly it would be better than nothing even if it isn't nearly adequate enough it would be a step in the right direction. Right now I can't even get Xinil to respond to me. I'm going to look around and see if there is anyone else I can talk with. Usually when the original work is mentioned it's just a brief; based on the game/visual novel by [insert company here]. |

| Like Pabloc says, it shouldn't be too hard to at least add the visual novels with a manga/anime adaption since it's actually the original work. As for the others, it's probably just a matter of time if the first phase goes well. |

So, guys, you know, not to make you sad or anything but either he doesn't have time for anything right now or he is just delibaretely ignoring your messages. Both situation would be bad so... |

| I can do it too, but in a week or two. Getting it too close is just annoying. I can either use your words or write something myself and get you to look through and see if it contains everything you're looking for. But as I said, in a week or two at the earliest. And that should be true even if I'm not the one writing it. Getting annoyed over something usually also means getting more stubborn, and that's something we don't want. |
