Director Sato Tatsuo tweeted that he has excluded all the romance elements from Moretsu Pirates and Rinne no Lagrange. He said it's an experimental approach to compose the scripts focusing on the friendships without romance, but he believes something unexpected will be created in such an old-fashioned way.

Between the girls?

And he eliminated it?

NOOOOO

"Rinne no Largrange" was PERFECT FOR ROMANCE!!

3 male pilots x 3 female pilots!! It fit so well!! They even had personalities that would mix well DAMN!!

Red head dude = a hot head just like Madoka

Blonde dude = Calm yet not calm just like Lan

Blue haired dude = He looks responsible while Megumi "Megaboobies" acts childish YIN AND YANG!!

Trust me. Enemies becoming love interest is the BEST classical romance scenario!!! Im so pissed!!!

Morestu Pirates.....Yuri romance?

So basically he's really jacking with the source material. There's going to be a LOT of fans who aren't happy about this.

I don't think anyone who can't read japanese even knows that Mouretsu Pirates is even adapted from a Light Novel series (which it is) so no one would care. And Lagrange has no source material, isn't it a completely original anime?

Then again, these two series are the series which I least expect romance to happen so I don't see any problem here. Kind of hard to have NORMAL romance with all-female casts anyway.

If that was the case and he eliminated it, this Tatsuo guy just went to the top of my hit list.

People who can read Japanese will care. I wasn't referring only to English speaking fans.
I wasn't talking about Lagrange in that respect. Maybe I should have made my words a little clearer, but I thought other people would be able to understand what I meant.

Well, Rinne no Lagrange, fine, you can give it a shot.

But Moretsu Pirates, changing name, and now changing source material? :<

I never even expected romance from these two, which have been amazing so far.

Now if this decision were to happen with Angel Beats,Hanasaku Iroha and certain mech series..they probably would have been much more better overall.

somehow romance was often more damaging to series than giving some value to it.

From justpassingby's information about the source material about Mouretsu Pirates from the Animesuki forum, I believe that there wasn't any romance in the source material in the first place as I don't see any mention of it.

How many people were seriously expecting romance out of these two series' in the first place, they don't even have a main male character.

what is with you guys crying over non-romance elements? Do you really that lonely so the lack of romance in an anime could give you a bad medicine?

Get over it.

Good call. The shows can actually focus on their points this way, unnecessary romance would have just messed up the focus.

I clearly don't see why some retards are crying.. it's not like there aren't a bazillion shows just this season where you can get your moe-hime crack shots

What has put you in such a bad mood?

I don't think anyone here was actually expecting any guy-girl romance in these series, but hey, yuri is always a plus amirite?

That's good to hear. This kind of shows doesn't need any cheesy romance and any forced drama as a result. Ruined so many series with potential before. And especially, there's no need of any yuri or other crap like this.

Might turn out to be a pretty good decision. Not every single show needs romances. Better leave them to the series that are more focused on such things.

Rinne no Lagrange ought to be better for it and I didn't have the slightest idea Mouretsu Pirates was gonna have romance anyway. Good call, I guess. I wish all the directors that tease for 12 episodes and never get anywhere would do the same.
But the design changes, man. WHY.

Didn't peg Lagrange for having any real romance elements in the first place, but none in Moretsu Pirates?

To be blunt, why the hell do you need romance in those 2 series anyway? I'm glad he kept it the way it is.

As long as the end result turns fine, it's all good. When you see any anime that has characters boy and girl of similar age, you almost always expect to see romantic development.

Never expected romance to play a big part in Moretsu Pirates for some reason.

Rinne no Lagrange however...so you're telling me there's not going to be Madoka x Lan?

Um wait. So there is romance in Moretsu Pirates novel, and there was some planned in Rinne? I'm suprised at that alone, i never expected any romance from any of these series as there were no potential male partners for protagonists.
I wouldn't mind some Madoka x Ran or Marika x Chiaki though, somewhere deep i hoped for such a development but now i guess even that is impossible.
I am sad. щ(゚Д゚щ)

I'm not too happy about the director just flat out saying that their isn't any romance at all in these series, but I kinda figure that maybe he feels that romance shouldn't be tacked on.

Fuck.

Tatsuo just went to the top of my hit list too. ffs.

Both anime had some possible yuri romance and he eliminated it? wtf? There has been very little yuri romance in anime these days, so I would have definitely welcomed it and no doubt, that many others would have liked it too. At least, he should have kept the Romance elements in one of them. If he wants to take that experimental approach, believing something unexpected will be created, he should have done that with just the other show.

......I am both angry and sad right now

YES! I'm the only one who's happy about it! LOL

seriously, I can't believe so many people who actually care more about the romance than the actions or story...

Good decision, since 1st ep of Lagrange I was afraid they'd pull some sort of cheesy romance-drama between the, OH SO ORIGINAL! 3 main girls and 3 bad guys...

I'm so relieved, really.

So he removed the romance, but kept the fanservice, right ? THAT's original. -_-
