Well I'm reading the manga and watched a bit of the anime. All I can say is that the anime is a bit censored compared to the manga. The manga is much more .. violent. Moreover, it's said in his biography that, even before the manga starts, Hibari did killed people :


Last but not least, the TYL (ten years later) Hibari is really in tha mafia and he kills.
(For example, Gamma, stabbed through the neck)

Yeah I think you really don't remember it anymore lol.

In that arc it's true Satoko wanted to kill Keiichi pulling him down off the bridge, but when he was falling down he thought "I want the entire village of Hinamizawa to die". In fact, at the end of that episode it's said that everyone in the village is dead due to a "toxic gas explosion" (or something like that), except Keiichi, who's shown while carried on a stretcher (also the tv says he's the only survivor in Hinamizawa).

That's how I remember that episode. I'm sure Keiichi didn't die. Sorry for the shitty explanation, I need to re-watch Higurashi badly.
