Just got a 70" Flat screen and I started watching some Blu-Rays on it. Absolutely amazing. I was watching Bakemonogatari in HD and on that screen, it blew my mind. So I'm wondering, what are some of your favorite HD anime? Things with breath taking animation preferrably. When I get home I'm gonna watch 5cm Per Second, and probably lose my mind at how good it looks :D

If I had such a screen I'd probably watch the Rebuild of Evangelion movies on it. I would love to hear the epic soundtrack with HD audio and see the great action scenes on a large screen.

Edit: Links to the movies on MAL:

In my opinion, HD best for action genres and since HD technology is just recent, so I don't think you can rely on anime before year 2000 because Blu-Ray technology itself officially founded around 2002.
Since I haven't watched many anime after that year, I would say Angel Beats and Infinite Stratos would look awesome.

Redline BD comes out in 11 day. Watch that in 1080p BD with surrounds sounds and you'll have eye and ear gasms.

Stuff by Studio Ghibli. The BD remastering does wonder for the old hand-drawn animations. The amount of details and texture is simply eye-popping.

I also recommend Fate/Zero. Graphics look very nice for the TV version; can't wait for the BDs. The sound work is one of the best I've heard in anime, even though it only aired in stereo. Voices are crisp and focused, and the soundtrack is epic.

Just when I was going to propose Redline or Madoka, lol xD (so I'm seconding them)
Other stunningly beautiful anime would be:
- Uchuu Show e Youkoso (I even tagged it for its brilliant art)
- Summer Wars
- Sword of the Stranger (excellent even in 720p)
- Sora no Woto (a slice-of-life)
- King of Thorn
- Seconding Evangelion Movies
- Black Rock Shooter (the OVA)
- Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai

There are probably more, it's just that this come on my mind as stunning. The first 3 will probably blow your mind the most (along with Redline) ;D

Seconding Summer Wars. There are some stunning animation sequences to be seen in it.

Also, other anime that would be cool in HD:
- [C] (ok, the CG was not the greatest at times, but overall it would look fantastic in HD; plot, on the other hand, is less thrilling...)
- Mononoke
- Gankutsuou
- Katanagatari
- Last Exile: Ginyoku no Fam (if only for the airship battles)
- Dennou Coil

-Macross Frontier TV Series
-Mobile Suit Gundam 00 + Movie
-Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete
-Karas

I'd rec Appleseed movies too. Don't mind much about the story. At least good mech action is there.

Seconding Kara no Kyoukai movies and Fate/zero too.
