I'm just kind of confused about the order of the light novels and all that.

I just finished the movie, so I know there's no animated stuff left. So do I start now on the wavering of Haruhi Suzumiya? Also is there any way I get the novels on the internet? So I don't have to buy them?

I would just wait until new animated stuff comes out; it's only a matter of time until the remaining novels get adapted:

However, here is a list of the light novels in order from wikipedia:

As for attaining them, I'm sure there are many torrents around the internet. Try btjunkie

Volume 5, Chapter 3 is where you should start (which also happens to be one of the best parts of the series, so have fun :P)

He's referring to the light novels vol 5 (The Rampage of Haruhi Suzumiya). It's released in English so you could find it at a bookstore. You could also probably find it really easily online now that you have the name.

Here is a link to a torrent that has volumes 1-9 in English. Completely safe and it has them all in PDF format. The PDF's even include all the pictures including the cover and inside pictures of the volumes.

Is torrenting this illegal? I'll still probably do it anyway, I'm just wondering.

Well actually, depending on where you live, torrenting can be completely legal, or legal by circumstance. ^^

This made my day xD
Since anime is nearly impossible to find here in Canada (in a small town in the middle of nowhere), I'm forced to torrent, since I'm too young to order online.

Actually I remember the RCMP said themselves that they do not concern themselves with cases of piracy for personal use. They only care if there are people trying to make money of pirated content. There was even a court case in Canada (for music downloads) that was thrown out because the judge concluded that personal use piracy is infact legal in Canada.
