This was one of my favorite episodes so far, just because it finally made Irie notice that he's not the center of Kotoko's universe and that there are other guys willing to take his place at any time. Hopefully, Keita will force Irie to notice that Kotoko is not confident in her relationship with him since he never willingly shows his affection for her, and this will cause some changes in his actions and behavior towards her. |

Aarana said: One thing we have to remember about Irie is that he is emotionally stunted. He doesn't KNOW what jealousy is. Honestly, he has gotten anything he has ever wanted and more. He hasn't had to try for anything. Everything has come naturally and easy. He has never been frustrated, or antzy, or anxious. Especially not jealous. So what does a "child" do when they are faced with something they don't understand. They back off. It reminds me of the old "girls have cooties" tale that all the boys use, (or girls) because they don't understand. He may be very educationally mature, but he has the emotions of a 5year old. Thats why it makes this marriage so interesting :D And people wondered what this arc would be about! exactly! :3 That is Irie's problem, haha. You're right on target. |

Catching up with the past 4 episodes I've been ignoring, seeing new characters was surely refreshing, since every character up to then had managed to disappoint me. And then we get Keita. I was seriously thinking about dropping the show until he came around - finally a breath of fresh air and rationality about the ridiculous way Irie treats Kotoko. I can't really blame Irie, since I'm sure jealousy is a foreign emotion to him. However, he had it coming. Hopefully now that he has a serious rival, he'll begin to realize how much he's wronged. Also, I'm glad to see Kotoko is beginning to be serious about something in her life that is not Irie. Dear God, seeing a woman doing everything in her life based on a man just annoys me to no end. Doesn't she have hopes and dreams of her own? But if she continues to show interest in what she's doing, then I'll be satisfied. For now, I just want their relationship to go somewhere near healthy. I agree with Keita, Kotoko should break up with that guy! Irie pisses me off, he has never cared about Kotoko anyway! I feel sorry for poor Kotoko... |

i love keita. he's such a nice guy. the moment at the end was so cute. I just wish naoki would be more.... openly jealous. it's sort of disheartening. |

AngelLily said: Doesn't she have hopes and dreams of her own? hasn't it been made clear that her hopes and dreams are to live with Naoki Irie, no matter what it takes? That's all that's needed by some. I do agree that the reason Irie is acting like this is, as others have said, due to his not knowing how to react to the emotions he's feeling. He'll quickly realize what he's done wrong, he is intelligent after all, but it might take him some time to actually act on his realization and feelings. There are still 7-8 episodes left, plenty can happen still. |

I don't think it's a matter of Irie not really caring about Kotoko so much as a matter of him simply not understanding how to care. 1) He's got pretty much everything he's ever wanted handed to him on a silver spoon all his life whether he wanted it or not. I don't honestly think he even knew that the emotion that he was experiencing was jealousy in the first place; it just never occurred to him because he's never had to deal with an emotion such as jealousy in the first place. 2) He's shut off most emotions of any kind for the better part of his life so experiencing the wide range of emotions that he got when he started developing feelings for Kotoko is probably something he's not used to and does not know how to deal with. Yes, he'll realize eventually how he's feeling, but that will probably take a couple of episodes before he does. As for Kotoko, to be honest, the very fact that Kotoko's entire life is based on Naoki Irie actually somewhat annoys me, but then again that's the way her character was made in the manga in the first place. You can't really fault the animators for following what the original author intended for the character to be like and considering the type of girl Kotoko is, maybe a push by some other force is needed to make her do something in the first place. I don't honestly think she has any real dreams other than to be by Naoki's side for as long as she's living and I guess for her that's enough. |

*coughs* Okay, is anyone else reminded of the Twilight book series? >.> I just started watching this show a couple days ago, and now with Keita and Naoki I can't stop thinking of Jacob and Edward, haha. |
