According to the official website, music band Jinkaku Radio has announced that they will suspend the activity due to the inappropriate remark of one of the members. The live stages and the release of the new CDs will be canceled.

Jinkaku Radio was initially selected as the ED theme singer of Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou. Yuki, the singer of the band, posted a picture of Horie Yui in his blog and insulted her.

I have been seeing interviewers from this kind of magazines since I began to work for an anime. (A picture of Horie Yui on the cover of Seiyu Grand Prix magazine was inserted.) All the seiyu have 'seiyu-ish' looking. They look "less than an idol" or kinda cheap if not deteriorated. They are like Universal Studios Japan if an idol corresponds to Tokyo Disneyland. I don't say it's good or bad. It's a matter of taste.

The post was immediately removed and Yuki apologized to Horie Yui, her fans and the people in the anime industry but Jinkaku Radio was dropped from the theme singer of the anime. Amesaki Annainin's song "Ohisama" was chosen for the new ED theme.

Really? Horie Yui? Of all the Seiyuu to pick, you had to pick the nicest one among them (judging by their voice >_>)?

Well, to be honest, the guy has a point about that "seiyu-ish looking". But he definitely should've stopped at that and don't resort to words like "cheap" etc.

Still, the consequences are obviously too harsh for him.

I don't see how this is so insulting or why anyone cares.
The one thing that bugs me here is that a voice actor's looks are relevant at all, but I guess that can't be helped.

Well you can't blame them for thinking that cause there are some fujoushi out there that hate female seiyuu just because they are women and not sexy men.

Also Yui does have a deep voice in Tegami Bachi Reverse (as Roda) and Mawaru Penguindrum (as Masako).

As for the ending I don't really blame them for making the band drop out and choosing another one, but I don't think they should break up over something like this.

Pretty much this.

The remark wasn't offensive until he said "cheap". It still wouldn't have been such a big deal - as the guy himself stated, it's just a matter of taste - if only he hadn't mentioned a specific name, and Horie's at that. Bad move. Hopefully Yui didn't feel offended, although it would be completely understandable if she had :/

i kind of agree with what he was saying about seiyus, but he did go a bit far and it is true that if you are in this type of scene you should avoid saying things that would offend other people in the industry, especially some one who is quite a big player in it.

"cheap" is the key here, although the entire point is not too offending. The punishment is a bit too overdone, but well...that's the consequence that he had to pay.

Too bad he learned it the haaaaard way.

Insulting Horie Yui is unforgiveable and wasn't necessary, go after Hirano Aya not someone great like Yui.

Seiyuus are idols in many cases... including Yui Horie.

If her roles aren't impressive, then what do you think IS impressive? She has one of the most impressive resumes of any seiyuu out there.

Anyway, the band deserves this for an unprovoked attack on Yui Horie.

The otaku and casuals don't like their favorite seiyuu and singer being referred to as deteriorated. He got swift, fair, and just punishment. You don't speak bad about someone in such a demeaning way.

His post was not just targeted to Yui Horie. The part where he typed "All the seiyu have 'seiyu-ish' looking. They look "less than an idol" or kinda cheap if not deteriorated." targets most/some of the seiyu(s). So it's bad in many levels.

She's only one of the most experienced, veteran female seiyuu working in the business today, with a broad vocal range, plus a resume fifteen years long and full of both lead roles and popular characters. She's in the top tier of active female seiyuu by any possible definition.
Good point there.

Freedom of Expression ≠ Freedom to Insult Anyone. Therefore he's done. (Too bad for his bandmates though).

Voicing your opinion doesn't mean you get to insult whoever you want. Especially someone who has a contract with an animation company, you expect them to have a little bit of professionalism and also respect. It was well deserved.
