I have no idea how people did not like this first episode, I thought it was really good. I guess people want it to be more action packed instead of dialogue heavy? I didn't mind that so much because that's what I liked about the movie. I agree though that I don't want it to be completely episodic either, but we'll see. Also wtf was that robot stuff after the ED? Lmao

Solid first episode and I can already tell I'll really like this series. Can't wait until I get into the main case though, heard really good things about it.

Not as good a first episode as I was expecting.

Actually a better first episode than I was expecting. I'm surprised people don't like it, only 35% loved it? O_O Probably because it's pretty different from the 1995 movie, but that's the best part of it imo.

I like Motoko a lot better in this one, also that special forces feeling. The movie was way darker and more boring. Also I looooooove the ending song, so chill <3

Wewt, very different to the movies Ghost in the Shell and Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence. It was enjoyable though, and I ranked it higher. It seemed more realistic due to the characters throwing in some humor once in a while, compared to the completely serious (which I am not against, Monster being one of my favorite anime) movies. It seemed like a true anime, quite eerie to delve into it more.

Not a bad start. This is yet another one of those big name shows that I've been meaning to watch for a long time. It was a little hard to follow all of the department names and titles, but has certainly set up a setting that I'm interested in.

Was a fun opener but I'm having a senior moment and can't figure out how Togusa twigged on to the brain switch. There was something about a plastered chap saying the minister got whacked *before* the secretary. Didn't catch it all. Anyone care to elaborate?

Yare yare daze, Major's uniform tho...

I see they rely quite a bit on CG, and the animation isn't the best of quality...

I remember thinking this show looked impressively clean when I watched the first cour in 2007, having at that point watched nothing except old Toonami and a few anime movies. Since I started really exploring anime for the first time in 2015, I've developed a strong dislike for the primitive digital 2D animation of the early 2000's; I'm reluctant to watch anything from that era because it tends to be so unpleasant to look at. Coming back to SAC now, although it does look like it's a show from that era, I still find it far more aesthetically pleasing than any other TV series I've seen from that time. Even KyoAni's Full Metal Panic was unsightly compared to this.

I might be biased. I still have a fully organic visual cortex, etc.

So/so first episode. I've tried re-watching it several times, but keep getting side tracked which is usually not a very good thing. I was confused about what was even going, but I'll fully pay attention when I watch it again today.

I'm also not a big fan of the animation of the early 2000s as it losses that distinct anime "feel" I suppose. What I did like was Yoko Kanno's music.. which is not a shocker :).

I watched this for the first time when I was probably 16 or something. Couldnt really get into it, I got lost in the dialogues and the technology and everything.

Watching it 10 years later now... man, this is good.

Maybe not the greatest start, but interesting enough. The setting and structure have me sold already, tho, there's a lot of potential for future episodes. And seeing how many episodes there are overall, I'm sure that I will have my fun with this show.

This will be for sure the most complicated anime I've watched in a while. Looking forward to all the ways they use sci fi and tech as plot devices.

Got the special BD box with both seasons of GITS SAC, so I'm doing my first rewatch of SAC in many years. While the CG has started to show its age a bit, it's still every bit as good as I remember. Really well done. But the majors outfit is really pretty ridiculous I have to say with my 2019 tinted glasses.

Well, this was a fairly good start at best.

Certainly different from the 1995 and Innocence movies in many ways but hopefully this'll manage to win me over because I've been looking forward to giving this a shot for a long while (>4 years) now.

Major's outfit is seriously ridiculous though, I must say xD. Exactly that, my first impression. I've seen the SAC posters, key visuals and etc. but I've never been taken aback to this extent by it, lol.

Op & ED certainly have a different feel than what you'd normally expect from the medium, especially the Op. Definitely going to take some getting used to.

Let's see how this'll compare to Psycho-Pass now, shall we?

"If you've got a problem with the world, change yourself." "If that's a problem, close your eyes, shut your mouth, and live like a hermit." "And if that's a problem... (end yourself)". Stoic philosophy.

Now I'm not sure if that's a good philosophy anymore. It's like... everyone else gets healthcare but one country and you live in that country, you're supposed to just accept the injustice and watch people around you go bankrupt to pay medical bills? It's also a philosophy that lets fascism stay in place.

That's what series like these are for. Otherwise, enjoy the Tachikomas.

Watched this first episode dubbed just to see how good it is. If you like your dubs, I think this one is quite a solid one. Still feels unnatural to me personally though so I'll be sticking with subbed once again.

Fantastic opening song. I vastly prefer it to the tribal music they used in the two movies. Looking forward to future episodes, because this one has more than enough charm to keep me absorbed.
