I think that's just weird wording from dtshyk, it's not a "record" of anything in particular, but it's really incredibly good for an otaku movie. Obviously kid/family movie (SJ stuff, Ghibli, Conan, Pokemon) do way more, they're the titles that gross over ¥1bn lifetime. And Evangelion is Evangelion. It's its own world. I actually think number of screens isn't super important to otaku movies, I mean Shoushitsu only opened on 24 and it did over ¥800m from Feb to end of 2010. I don't know how much K-ON! movie will do lifetime, but it's not like having 2, 3, or 5x as many screens = 2, 3, or 5x as much revenue. Otaku movie ? i don't think so , there is statistic that showed that K-ON has pretty good share of normal people audience ( people who doesn't watch anime frequently ) since K-ON is pretty much for everyone except maybe some elitist Anyway nice to see K-ON doing well , can't wait. |

They have haruhi Shouhshitsu at $7.4 million USD, when we know it did over ¥800m yen which is actually over $10 million USD. Oh dear. That's not very good. T_T Did the studios take a hit because of these adaptations. Will these performances affect future adaptations of the original material? |

I've been wondering the exact same thing. my theory here is K-ON! or K-ON!! = Official Anime Name as per majority release K-On! = Keion-bu: formal name written english (Kei=K, on=On) but still has the meaning light music club in short, no actual difference. it is just that capitalization... there are instances Clannad is written as CLANNAD in various anime picture and magazines but it is accepted as Clannad... same with the Clannad: After Story just my COMMON SENSE... |
