THIS IS A MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- So they're aiming for a short but breathtaking piece. Not bad, actually I like stories which don't last for too long, 50 chapters sounds great, actually. But, well, remember all the burden Eiji had to carry in order to finish Crow? Ashirogi also once had a similar hardship with Tanto. I'll see it as a plot hole if now they'll be able to pull off a 50-chapter manga without any problems from the publisher. ![]() |

Short but breath-taking! That really sounds like Ohba and Obata. But, well, remember all the burden Eiji had to carry in order to finish Crow? Ashirogi also once had a similar hardship with Tanto. I'll see it as a plot hole if now they'll be able to pull off a 50-chapter manga without any problems from the publisher. Yeah, that will really be a problem. Jump has this policy, "to not end a very popular manga" or "to continue writing for as long as possible if it's a very popular manga", just like what happened with Dragon Ball. Toriyama-sensei was "forced" to continue Dragon Ball for more chapters, even if the story had peaked to its highest possible quality. I agree with what Hatori said, not all flagships which have gone for a very long time will get more popular the longer they last, just like what happened to Bleach. Well, there's an exception to that, Japan's current most popular manga, One Piece! Only a genius like Oda-sensei can pull that one out. I think, Ohba and Obata really used Bakuman to really justify their way of doing things. "Even if it's short, if we can make it into a piece that readers will notice, the results will follow after." That just what happened with Death Note. After its conclusion in WSJ, the series brought a 37-episode anime adaptation, 3 Japanese live-action movie adaptations ,and a "planned" US live-action movie adaptation! Quality over quantity! wow that sounded so much like death note. oh and how was PCP first in the rankings? Otters is more interesting! I would have put Money and Intelligence and Trap higher, not a fan of PCP. |

Better for Takagi to be himself making the story as always and not pushing it further. Good chapter. |

So it's settled. Basically they want it to be the ''how DN should've went" type of manga... Good chapter. 5/5 Oh and on an another note - the colour spread page was pretty sweet. |

Wow, that criticism beneath the surface was brilliant. Even though they're preaching "love for manga" and stuff like that all the time, the people in charge of Jump are just after money. Like everyone else (most Mangaka included, I GUESS) So quantity over quality. Who cares, if a once great manga becomes a ridiculous piece of crap, eh? The manga poll was nice. Sadly, my beloved favourite Trap made it only on 5th place. :( |

I agree with the others here - this chapter is what happened with Death Note. Replace Schwarz and Weiss with Kira and L in the very first panel. Then on the very next page you get them telling the editors that they should have been allowed to end it when they wanted because (dead center of the page in big bold font) they write the story. |

Seems like Ohba and Obata are projecting their experience with Death Note here. |

Still it was very good idea from the beginning . To write manga about how manga is written and end it with their experience with Death Note. I like the way things are turning out now. I can't say that I liked the part with Nanamine's comeback and how he failed again. He could have been better anti mangaka. :D Can wait for next chapter. |

So, it's a Death Note V 2.0 they are making? Shujin got it right, don't waste pages and make the story concise. "Justice Never Dies!" - Kenji Endou, 20th century Boys |

I agree with what Mashiro and Takagi are aiming at. And the way they talk feels like this will be the last manga they're gonna write. But I am really looking forward on how they'll develop Reversi. I want it to become a great manga deserving to be called a pillar of Jump. Short but breathtaking sounds awesome for me. |

There's a certain author that would learn a whole lot from this chapter, Tite *cough* Kubo *cough*. =] |
