Loved this episode. Leorio was being smart, really on his A-game using the betting to force a good situation for the team either way that it went.

I dogged this remake a lot in the beginning, but it is starting to impress me. The fight between Hisoka and the ex-examiner went down better in this version I think, particularly the ending. In the 1999 version it just shows a lot of red (blood) where the guy's neck is and then a really long freeze frame at his horrified face. It never showed the decapitation whereas in this remake they did. Cheers to it. There is some hope for the upcoming stuff after all.

hmm .. at least Hisoka's fight against that scar face was a little longer than the original
if I remember correctly he said it took him years to be able to catch them .. not half year like here

My thoughts exactly. That guy got decapitated. In the older version his head was still on his shoulders or at least it appeared to be that way. Knew the violence would go up.

hmmm think he did say half a year because the hunter exam takes place every year and that guy got scarred in the last exam so it couldn't be years because he just learned that style, even Hisoka wasn't familiar with it.

There's hope for Killua's math now and I'm hoping it's next episode. In the preview it showed the guy he'd face but then again it may start the battle near the end and end with a cliff hanger or with the match just starting. Anyways, really good episode. Hisoka vs Examiner from last year was better than the one in the original IMO.

okay, this ep was really good. easily the best one yet. killua talking to kurapika about murdering people and leorio-sensei being gar as fuck - now that's what i'm here for.

died @ hisoka doing the eyecatch and trying to slaughter the viewer with his card.

and of course, dat closeup of jones's face at the end of the preview. i hope they don't hold out on us after teasing us ... i'm not too worried anymore thanks to hisoka having fun with his buddy this ep.

More shadow violence... better than completely removing it, but it gets kinda old when they use it for anything and everything that involves blood. Hope we get to actually see what happens next episode...

As much as I hate the presentation of this adaption, I gotta admit, it's kinda smart sometimes.
The scenes with psychological explanations are 'mainstreamed' rather clever. Like the one with Kurapika and Leorio last time, they mixed a lot of humour in, instead of taking it seriously. That way it'll work for the new shounen-audience.

Hisoka throwing a card at the screen was pretty cool. But the MUSIC was so not fitting for him at all.
Speaking of music, that jazzy track in the beginning was the first from this show, I found to be somewhat good.

Bottom line another "ok"episode, before the big bang in the next (?). I won't be satisfied anyway. :x

Well, that horrified face was straight out of the manga original. I still prefer it, over a shadow image, of a head dropping.

greatly prefer the shadow over the horrified face. not only was it less vague, but it was more creatively done. the rest of hisoka scene was also easily better handled in the 2011 version compared to 1999 one.

Shadow violence is not creative. It's how they always handle violence in shows lightened up for younger audiences. Off the top of my head they used it in Rurouni Kenshin and Narutaru.

The fight was pretty cool though. Can't wait till they get to the more intense fights.

i'm just comparing it to what the 1999 series did.by itself of course it's nothing revolutionary

In the original anime

almost nobody could tell if hisoka cut off the guy's head (unless they read the manga)
same goes for when hisoka cut off that guy's arms at the beginning (i thought he was hiding behind a wall because hisoka was scary or something)

killua only injured one guy, instead of killing 2

so stop yer bitching...!

this episode is very good love that little mind game (or betting game) of Leorio and Lourette and that talk about always rejecting the minority will lead to the downfall of a team is really interesting that i learn something lol

and also Hisoka beheading his opponent was a shocker for me since i know this anime is for kids viewing only but i guess this kind of censorship is still permissible in japan

Good episode,talking time.

Hisoka being a badass and humiliating his opponent by catching the daggers was awesome, and ya kinda surprise they show he decapitating him but it was only shadow....stupid censorship.

Leorio gambling game was fun,the talking was not bad and keep me entertained, finally blue guy is out and we can get to the good part.....Killua fight and see how they adapt it!

Btw i loved this scenes

He didn´t keep his cool, and could hardly read the situation or estimate his opponent´s strength. His nen wasn´t also really impressive. And that teenage drama show about his comrade´s revenge, in the original especially (I didn't even know he was an examinator till last week, I though a last-year's candidate).

Good episode, but I kinda want the next episode to hurry over the next part of Leorio's bet, it just felt so out of place >.>

Well, in any case, it seems that the prisoner fight will end pretty soon, either by next week or by the week after at latest.

Tonpa is funny - I like how he's well outstaying his welcome, yet still feels the need to revel in others misery.

Leorio's challenge is interesting - a good battle of wits and a decent length (it could have been overwith really quick).

I liked this ep, though yet again, it seemed short, though I suppose this can't be helped - it ties in with the old phrase; "Time fly's when you're having fun" and this series is fun. I do understand why people may be a bit worried about the cencorship however - this series may have 'cute' characters, but it's far from 'cute' on a hole especially some material upcoming.
Still, some 'Hunter x Hunter' is better then no 'Hunter x Hunter' IMO - this series is better then a lot of the anime released this year.

Leorio bet that Majitani is not really unconscious, but is just faking it and he bet 10 hours on it.
So he was pretending to toss him off the platform to make sure.

At the last moment, the girl knew that the blue guy will forfeit. So she changed the bet and said that he is faking. While leorio bet that he's really unconscious(Even though he's sure he's not, and originally bet on that), this way they will at least gain 10 hours even though they lost a point

Leorio didn't mind that much since he will gain 1 point and if he kept arguing over who's betting on what they might even lose more than what they're betting on.

I hope this helped :P

She never saw it coming that he'd try and toss him, so she wanted majitani to pretend to be knocked out for the rest of the 72 hours. Hence, the piece of paper
guess she didn't figure everything out

You do realize that right now they are moving the exact pace of the original right? Don't know if you saw it or not but this is hardly new. Also for everyone Leorio's match is no where close to being over, it will most likely take up half or 75 percent of the next episode. Killua will fight next week unless they throw a curveball in there. As far as censorship I honestly don't care as long as they don't completely change parts in the story just to keep it censored.

No, I mean after that. Once the blue guy came back in the ring, why did he forfeit ? Couldn't he simply stay in the ring and make them waste even more time or did I miss something?

you mean after they realized he's faking he would just go back in the ring and continue his match?

it was a death match, and kurapika would just come back and make him surrender, besides they all knew he's just a fraud with no real strength
