I've heard some people saying that the two insert songs ("Today is the Day we Say Goodbye" and "Tsubasa wo Kudasai") are not really suitable for the show, especially during the parts where they were used. Yeah I understand that they are children's songs, but don't you think it makes the viewers feel more sympathetic with the characters involved in those scenes?

this is of course subjective matter, but i think the songs fit incredibly well, the whole point was to make the contrast, first time watching it i was unsure bout the songs and thought about whether it would be better with some epic songs instead, but now im confident its close to perfect the way it is

and also the songs became iconic, on par with 'komm suser todd' from EoE, for me those 2 songs were pleasant surprise

I thought they were an interesting technique to help display and portray the bizarreness of the situation. At first I was kind of taken surprise by them, but then as the scene and lyrics continued, I thought it was rather fitting in its own sort of fucked-up way.
