I am the bone of my wallet
Anime is my body and manga is my blood
I have bought over a thousand titles
Unaware of loss, Nor aware of gain
Withstood pain to purchase BDs, waiting for one’s arrival
I have no regrets. This is the only path
My whole life was unlimited pricing works

Note: At current discount and exchange rate it's actually slightly cheaper to import this from Amazon Japan, depending on your country's import fees/taxes. Although it depends on how big an order you're putting in, if you pay the full ¥2000 S&H for one item then it's about the same or slightly more to import but if like me you order enough where each item comes to about ¥470 each in a ~10 item order, it's cheaper by about $10.

In any event, yes it costs a lot but it's pretty much the same as importing. Welcome to an importer's world. Nobody should be surprised by it at this point, though.

Pretty much expected. It wouldn't be viable to lower the price since then the Japanese would just reverse import it.

It's not unexpected, but it is surprising to me that people are expected to / can even afford to pay essentially two months worth of apartment rent on some anime... I mean I'd spend it if I could not saying I wouldn't but... damn.

I envy the people who can afford em.

The industry expects that, and that's why things are prices for the core collector fanbase. People would all download if it were $60 too, so why bother selling it cheap and not getting many sales either? Might as well ignore the casual consumers entirely. They don't show up even when you price it at the level they're demanding.

$370 gets you two months of rent? Where the hell do you live? A cardboard box in Somalia? =P I pay ~$1000 a month with utilities and that's a pretty good price around here.

I mean, look, you're... ::checks profile:: about 20, probably in college, and frankly when I was 20 I would never have considered importing either. So I understand. But it's really not that outrageous when you're a couple years older, have a decent job, and don't have any other really expensive hobbies. I don't make six figures, but I prioritize anime because I like it that much more than other things. So I can afford it, without being a hedge fund manager or what have you... just a decent office job.

Yeah 1 grand a month sounds like San Francisco or New York prices but uh... I think we're off topic now.

You're also in the Ukraine, I'm going to assume cost of living is a good bit lower than where I am in the United States (no it's not NYC or anything hyper-expensive like that) so it's difficult to compare. Although yes, certainly, I was thinking in terms of the United States because that's the main market being served by the Aniplex/TRSI partnership.

In any event, my point is that Japanese releases are expensive enough, so there's no need to exaggerate them further. But they're also not impossible to manage. Especially if you're only buying one or two at a time, doesn't have to be as much as I wind up importing (against my better judgment). Just buy your favorites... that's what most Japanese otaku do too. Nobody expects anyone to pay JP prices on every show they watch. Then you really would need to be making six figures.

As expected this thread only goes full retard talking bout the price lol

Hey fags this IS R1 import release, like KnK for those who would not wait longer for R2 release by aniplex US or something like this.

Zeus, you guys better be grateful there is release like this n including english booklets n shiet for those who can pay. Importing by yourself can be a bitch.

I won't buy KnK for this price and I will not buy FZ for this price. Seriously, what the hell is this? Maybe they would get more sales over here if it wasn't so insanely expensive

^ FUCKING THIS!

You guys wish to own the BDs at the same time as the japanese with the same amount of extras and everything...then you will pay the same price they have to pay for pretty much every anime that is ever released over there.
An individual BD volume in japan is approx $60 and more, the price for anime is pretty damn high but I guess I have a job for that reason...

More sales, for sure. More profit though? Who knows. You'd need to sell 10 copies for every 1 copy you sell of this to break even.

Inelastic demand from otaku, so no reason for Aniplex to charge a lower price.

Plus, Type Moon has as rabid a fanbase as there is, even in the West. There will be quite a few people who buy this.

I say forget the boxset and buy the PSP game since it is getting an NA release from Aksys or whatever they're called along with that Hakuouki game. ^_^ Its cheaper in the long run.

Well 300 KnK import box is sold out last time they doing it.

And people need to be keep reminded this is R1 import release, its purpose is just to make your life easier if want buy the R1 box. Although its does have some kickass extras like translated booklet n note for drama CDs.

You all might get cheaper R2 release with dubs and stuff (much) later.
