When she first met Yuiji all she saw him as was nothing but an object (which he is), she treated him with cold words and often said "shut up" to him. Later she started seeing the human in him and with that she began to worry and feel weak without him by her side. She was but a tool for war so she doesn't what feelings such as love is. It is clear that she holds affection for him however; She's jealous when he is close to other girls (Yoshida) and most often they have many misunderstandings due to her not knowing her true feelings. She openly admits that looks are a major factor when starting a relationship, but carries a love-hate (mostly hate) relationship with Kusuda. Because of this belief, she denies any attraction to him, even to herself. But when he confessed his feelings to her, she returned them and at the end of the series she change her way of thinking that looks are no longer a major factor to start a relationship but inner beauty(which surprise everyone especially Rika saying that it sounds like a big joke from her). Finally she accepted and admitted that she loved him. She had accepted that she loved him but she didn't want to tell him that she did. Because if she would admit it, it would be the same as losing to him, so instead she will do her best to make him fall for her and admit defeat. When near Hayate she will become very feisty, and most ofen Hayate will do things that makes her embarrassed and make her blush constantly, most often it ends up with her being angry and make Hayate misunderstand her anger. She initially comes off as appreciating the inclusion of the boys into the initially all girls academy, but she quickly shows her true self when she begins to loathe Uryu Shingo for becoming close to her sempai Miu. She conceals all her displays of affection under ulterior motives (like a good tsundere), but the most heartbreaking part of her story (in the anime) is that she never truly gets to confess her love.
