Can't believe you forgot that Ishida Akira is Xellos from slayers, that's one of his most prominent roles and also fits the characteristic of strong but rarely shows it.

I am loving Akise, he seems pretty damn awesome. This show definitely deserves its high rating, it is freaking amazing.

I know, Akise is a Beast.
Disappointed though on how shallow Yuki is.

Ok, this is getting out of hand. Are ALL the supporting characters supposed to be so much more likable than Yuki and Yuno? I swear...

But yeah. Loving Akise. OP mentioned how he's like Accelerator, which now that I think about it may be why I like him so much. I really hope he sticks around for more than another episode or two, but judging by the average lifespan in this show I wouldn't be surprised...

Also, I lol'd when Hinata called Yuno Yunocchi. All we needed was some widefaces...

I don't know why would Yukiteru expose his secret so like that.

He's too easy to manipulate. =,=

I hope that Akise would bring spice to this series.

I agree with this but I remind also that this is no Slayers genre so I did not really think of it. I do admit though the Xellos's personality shines in Akise. That's 100% for sure.

Holy shit everyone in this show is a nutjob lol.

Didn't expect there to be two diary owners. I wonder what Akise's diary is.

No, I totally agree. The thing is really poorly written. I thought I'd give it a chance because of the AMAZING opening, but no. The dialog is unconvincing and ill-timed.
Also, killing off a character immediately after we meet her isn't shocking or innovative, it's amateurish. If you want a death to mean something, the character should be remotely significant and not somebody who gets three minutes of screen time, if that.
Beyond that, this anime lacks direction, and it seems like details are thrown in on a whim.
Interesting premise though.

some dialogues felt really unreal and out-of-place... a normal person wouldn't say such things... (right now I remember yuki's question to hinata(or whatever was her name): "Why do you care about me so much?")
let's leave aside yuki, who's become the lamest character ever made...

the scene with the dogs surrounding the house - it felt like I was watching a kids' show... we see them all running towards windows and blocking them, and then "the dogs fled."
much like Dora the Explorer... asking the viewers to help her and boots blocking the windows from the dogs... by us saying "left"/"right" (in israel dora teaches english ;p)

and what about the shallow jokes? the pulling down of the skirt was really a joke for first graders.

I think this series has a good potential, but it's poorly made. I don't know about the manga, but the anime is probably not that much off.

so far all characters are just copies of someone, ninth chick = Cirucci Thunderwitch from bleach, akise guy = Kaworu Nagisa from Eva and everything else in Mirai Nikki = Deadman Wonderland

Mirai Nikki Manga came out befor DW.
Well, its nearly impossible nowadays to create a character who doesnt RESEMBLE; or is a COPIE of someone else.

Ok, but this anime is FULL of copies. I saw every character somewhere else. Maybe it's intencional ( since Kaworu and Akise are even dubbed by the same person) but I don't like it at all, nothing suprise me in this anime.

another mind-blowingly amazing episode - it was very lame they tiled the dismembered arm - censorship is on it's way to getting as bad in japan as it is here in the u.s.a. (except in the u.s.a. they can show endless violence but no sex - sort of the opposite of japan) - scary!!! this episode had so many plot twists and new characters it was like a roller coaster ride - exceptional...

completely disagree - this show is one of the best mind-bending thriller/mystery/supernatural/twisted-paranoia-freakouts since death note - every episode has been better than the last!!! anyways, how can even say "a normal person wouldn't say such things" - when do events like these occur in the real world?

stupid yuki considers himself normal, I believe...
and leave that aside... who cares if they are normal or not, what he said simply felt forced for the plot.
like, "We need to find a way to make him feel like they are his friends... oh! let's make him ask an unfitting question!"

that's how I felt about it.
and it was just an example that had popped into my mind... there were some more annoying sentences I just didn't recall...

Is there anybody on this board who actually feels either Yuki or Yuno are actually in danger?
Perhaps I have just seen it all, but this series fails on the 'main character in peril' method of suspence.

Decent ep - but everything that occured was highly predictable:
- Yuki not being able to have friends
- the new characters are badies present simply to kill off
- the mains in a sticky situation we know they're going to get out of (maybe I speak for myself)
The best thing about this ep' was Yuno's consistancy of Yandereness (messages in the dirt whilst looking pleasant from a distance).

Well Aru made up for the "mistakes" in this episode imo ;)

What the hell did Eighth think when he devised his dog troop?!

"Yes, let's give dogs teeth of metal, but instead of having their shape, let's give them human teeth. Because the teeth of a species habituated since the discovery of fire to eat tender foods are far more effective than the ones belonging to a carnivore!! Canines aren't worth nothing beside the incomparable strength of little, not pointed teeth!"

Akise Aru is such a creep, ugh. After a crazy girl now there's also a crazy guy interested in Yukiteru. I don't think he's a diary owner though.

Looks like that guy at the kennel is responsible for those dogs with metal teeth and his daughter was the one who got hold of his diary. Now Hinata and Mao both turned on Yukiteru. I wonder if they'll stay his enemy forever or see that Hinata's father is doing evil.

The epilogue with Mur Mur was also pretty funny. Instead of a hospital she wants to go to an amusement park. =P

This might have already been answered, didn't read everyone's comments, but why are people thinking Akise is a diary user? I didn't see anything in the show to say he was. The only thing that might hint at him being one is a scene with Murumuru but, unlike the others, not a single thing was said about a diary. Unless I missed something.

To me he just seemed to be exactly what he said he was, an aspiring detective. He didn't seems to show any diary level knowledge, anyway.

As for the episode, don't have a lot to say beyond that but it was pretty great. Akise seems like an interesting character and good addition to things.

Probably because of what Hinata said at the end of the episode: "Just to let you know, Amano wasn't my target from the beginning. I was only after one thing... The Future Diary that you hold... Akise Aru!" Really, did you miss that?
I don't think he is one, though.

Well, no, but I didn't pay it much mind. Seeing as how Akise hasn't shown anything beyond what a reasonably intelligent detective would have been capable of so far. Also, I could be wrong but none of the shadows seem to be a fit for him.

Don't know why Hinata is assuming he has a diary. Could just be something like guilt by association, he must have been watching Yukiteru, or could be something else all together. Will probably see in the next episode, though. Don't think he is one of the 12 myself, either, but if the scene with Murumuru meant anything he could still be involved in some way.

Regardless, I really hope Akise doesn't have a diary. Would be nice to have a capable person that can perform on the same level as the other holders without having future knowledge fed to him.

Well, when there's a character in the show called 'Deus ex machina' you know that the plot device will pop up eventually.

As to whether this is it or not, who knows. We'll see if Akise is truely that miraculous or not.
