According to Nikkan Sports, a new anime movie of Uchuu Senkan Yamato (Star Blazers) was announced to be premiered on April 7th 2012. The tile is "Uchuu Senkan Yamato 2199" and the director is Izubuchi Yutaka. The story is based on the first TV series aired in 1974.

According to Yamato official website, the new anime movie is a preview of the first two episodes of a new TV series. The production studios are Xebec and AIC, and the character designer is Yuuki Nobuteru.

Whoa, a fake preview has actually been right on all accounts so far.

Though I highly doubt some of the other things on it will be announced.

this is bad very bad why must the glory of mastumotos work get dragged down
my 11 main things i rate on

1 Impact on Impact on industry both the anime and Original Manga had
2 TV Ratings in Japan [ Gross for movies Unit sales for OVAs 3 Manga Ka of the Sourcework
4 how loyal the anime stayed to its source how well the compare to other big name in its genre
5 Seiyuu casting [ how many i know by voice i use the royal I here ]
6 Impact on General Pop Culture in Japan and the West 7 Impact on Otaku Culture in Japan and the West
8 Music[ Instrumentation]
9 merchandise sales
10 art style 11 Studio who produced the anime[ and what thay have done for the industry]

For some reason? It's only probably one of if not thee most influential sci-fi anime series out there... lol.

I remember this title....my dad had a VHS collection of all the episodes, next to Birdie lol

i wont wtach the movie
the live actions are better by far than nay CGI comprssion of the Orignal otaku anime could ever be

To be exactly, the 1977's Yamato movie is already done this... The 1978's movie is just a merely continuation, and later the second series rebooted it due to the fans' rage.

So, what's up with there being 6 or 7 movies in the MAL DB now? This thread only talks about one (+ the TV series) so I'm a bit confused. Have that many movies really been announced?

Seriously, mecha is not even in the genres and as far as I know there are no mechas in the series.
