Hoping it will be a spin-off with a more slice-of-life take. The director already said he wanted to do that type of story with Madoka co. ... as long as its not a recap; I could go for a re-imagining like the Macross F movies.

Recap but different ending, with new material? this is very possible. Some thing like the Unlimited Blade Works movie would be bad tho. More like the rebuild movies.

I'm hoping for more of a spinoff. I don't see a sequel being good. A recap wouldn't be bad but I would rather see something new.

It would be great if there will be more Kyoko or Mami. If it's real, though.

My thoughts exactly. Never understood why the hell recaps movie exist, it doesn't make sense to watch a bunch of collages of random eps that will unavoidably, in this anime's case, cut a lot of important parts. There aren't many parts you could consider filler so... no logic at all.

I would prefer a prequel too. I think that would be the more interesting (something like show the tragic path of the girls predecessors until Mami for example). Other than that I'm not excited.

I'm betting it's going to be a spin-off. Madoka Magica had a lot of ambiguous moments so a little branch for the movie would be understandable. A recap would save me the time of rewatching the series so I wouldn't be too disappointed with a recap.

Update 3: HMV's anime department apologized for spreading unconfirmed information on the possibility of a Madoka Magica film in its posting earlier in the day.

We can hope for a spin-off, or sequel. Half the otaku in Japan are, I bet. Maybe not.
