Lol what wasn't the point?
It was funny and entertaining, every series needs have these off episodes every once in a while, no point in hating on them.

Such a weird episode, lol.
It got pretty self-reflective by the end of it, though.
Good stuff.

usually I don't like filler but this show is so great at pacing and story that even the filler is good. Liked the little bits of character development for Daichi that were thrown in too.

The best "filler" episode I've ever seen in any anime ever. Period.
That one Ergo Proxy episode comes close, but Dennou Coil definitely takes the cake here.

This was bloody brilliant. Considering this is a show that is also aimed towards children, it adressed problems like god/religion and war in great way. It's also the first time seeing a nuke going off in a children's face that was launched off of that children's beard. lol

Only that the two Ergo Proxy fillers were some of the worst fillers ever done in the history of anime, considering that they destroyed the whole atmosphere and integrity of the show.

what an amazing episode.. the funniest episode so far, and how so great the creator told some messages for our humankind in one filler episode ... 10/10, no doubt about it ...

But because the Slave is in that despairing situation, having nothing, it can kill the Emperor !"

This episode is kind of a turning point into the anime in terms of pacing, things start to get momentum from here.

I'm wrapping up this series with a 7/10, because the first half dragged on for too long, but THIS episode gets a 10/10, no question. One of my all-time favorites! Had to come back here and add my comment. x)

That was the most random filler episode I've ever seen. Also, the most hilarious.

Not sure what was supposed to be so hilarious here. It was just an illegal imitating human history. It barely commented on it, but to say war is futile.

The episode was about growing up; this is basically spelled out at the end. The references to war and human history were just a joke.

It wasn't just an entertaining episode, but had also a meaningful message.

According to the rumors of the "beard people", it seems that in the age 5550 minutes, Lord Yasako will lead the way to the promised land.
*the Illegal appear, rising in what seems to be the promised land*
That is, they managed to get to the promised land.
The question isn't "What anime do you like?" That is merely a list.
The question is "Why do you like it?" That tells a story. Your story.

This episode was absolutely brilliant. A near-perfect mixture of comedy and social commentary surrounding philosophies as the show did such a fantastic job in presenting a short crash course of religion, war and civilization in one episode with hair people basically. The interstellar atomic bombs attacking each other in the group was hilarious. Such a stupid yet genius episode at the same time, and since there is a kids feel to the tone of the show, the series could not have presented intense, meaningful thematical messages in such an absurd yet charming and fun way.

My mind is blown. There's an Illegal that causes you to grow digital hair on your skin, especially around your mouth to look like a beard. They and spread like an infection, giving everyone, including animals, hilariously awful beards. Not only are they alive and sentient, but they started growing their own miniature communities, eventually developing things like towns, transportation, and languages. They even have volcanos? What the hell? And you can communicate to them akin to the voice of God via chat messenger? Then suddenly it turns into a glorified game of Civilization? And they're capable of "space" travel!? And they can communicate with other beards!? And by the end, they're capable of warfare and weapons of mass destruction waged upon each other's faces!?!? And they ended up bombing each other to the stone ages, and at the very end, they ended up as a "space" faring colony searching for their promised land!?

What...what the hell? Goddamn that was amazing.

A beard of illegals with eyes and mouths is certainly an unsettling concept.

That aside, this might have been the funniest episode, so far. Once the beards entered a state of war shit really just went off the rails. I wish more episodes were like this one.

One thing this episode makes me think about is, I wonder if the hairs managed to, or could have invented an Artificial Reality like humans have in the world of denno coil.  Then what if a virus similar to the beards infected the hairs in their AR?  Worlds within worlds within worlds.  Perhaps, the world of denno coil is just a beard on some higher order realities face.

this is kinda beautiful
