Finally Masako had some development. And it seems her background is quite similar to Seto Kaiba; She even has a company like him, rofl.

Now it seems that Kanba could be her real brother. Masako's father also looked like Kanba and incest for Ikuhara is something usual.

did anyone noticed that Masako´s dad hair looks exactly like Kanba´s hair? Too much coincidence. Besides, how would Kanba meet Masako as kids?
Oh, I really like this kind of explanation!!! Perhaps, Kamba's mother is still Takakura Chiemi, but his father is Masako's dad! So it could very be the case that Masako and Kamba have the same father but different moms? Now don't tell me that the reason why Mario and Himari look alike is because their mother is also Takakura Chiemi - that would be gross xD

Another interesting is that the parents may be framed here. The proof is quite simple from episode 12. Look at the person here and the person he is looking at here. Now it’s obvious they look the same right? So the one who was not framed was most likely the other one looking like Himari’s father but the other one may be the doctor itself.
nah.. I really doubt it.. I'm pretty sure that the person here and the person there. is the same person from two different angles. This is Takakura's dad.

I am just going to blurt out the “Twins Theory” I think that Himari’s father and Ringo’s father were twins. Both worked for the same group of penguin and perhaps not in the same division but same company. One day they had to do a job that is nasty in thee end one had to take the blame while the other was most likely so not ready for his own daughter to have died of the result of his job.
I don't think I follow how Oginome's father can be a twin to Takakura's father.

Perhaps Momoka may be just swallowed up in it. You don't think she disappeared just like that in the hospital after being quite alive last we saw of her but still to make a human finish with an object and have it replaced is insane. You all don't realize that the diary may be a sort of Steins Gate able to totally transfer from Beta to Alpha worlds with a price to pay. Still makes no differences since Steins Gate also offered the prices payment for meddling with time.
pwwweeeeease, don't spoil other shows here ^^ I only plan to watch S;G. But no matter the case, I think that after episode 15 pretty much everyone understands the diary is the tool to change/alternate the world with the price to pay for it. I mean, that's exactly what Momoka told herself in that episode. And the first guesses that we're dealing with different variations of the world came as early as the difference in Takakura's mother's name were noticed on Takakura's postbox. Was it ep.5 or 6? Don't remember now. My question would be... just how many times have the fate been already altered? We know for sure Momoka used it successfully. Perhaps, Tabuki could have been involved (the scars on his fingers as a price for altering something relatively small). Now this episode gave me a feeling that Natsume family's fate is also screwed up - grandfather possessing Mario, Masako's dreams (which could actually all be realities, fixed to resurrect Masako's dad).

YayPepsi said:
How old are Natsume and Mario supposed to be? I'm assuming that current day Mario is supposed to be 8, if the flashbacks are anything to go by. (It looked like Natsume was about 10 in her flashback, and Mario was in the 2-4 age range...it's hard to tell in anime.) So if Natsume is roughly the same age as Kanba and Shouma, Mario would be about 8-10. Is there a site that has their official ages?
unfortuantely nope... or at least I haven't found the official source myself yet..

From what I can see the article's about plans to make paper from elephant dung (yes, it exists http://jp.japancorp.net/article.asp?Art_ID=19462, http://www.edgyjapan.jp/2010/12/20101224-1.html)
woah, the circled arrows arounf the elephant on the pics from the first link... it kinda made me think about the Mawaru's pink circles consisting of two "arrows". And I think we've already met elephants in the show earlier - back in episode 11
I wonder if these are anyhow related...

YayPepsi said:
But she does recognize Himari is Kanba's sister. In the beginning, when she tells the maid to spy on them, she tells Kanba "continue spying on Kanba and his sister."
actually.. you just made me realize that Masako, by spying over Himari, is trying to figure out about princess of the crystal, who, she believes, is the new Kamba's girlfriend, right? Because the very next sentence she says after "continue spying on Kanba and his sister." is "By the way, who's his new girlfriend?" Or does it mean, that Kamba, despite being so obsessed with Himari/PoC continues flirting with other girls? OH my.. what a womaniser...

Some ideas pooping around. Let's see what anyone else makes of this. I am sure I am right with the twins theory.

Interesting theory. Could be true. I thought maybe those two men were Kanba and Shouma's fathers, making them cousins instead of brothers. But the twin theory seems plausible too.

Also, with Masako's father looking like Kanba - I'm guessing they're somehow related? So here's a possibility:
-Shouma and Himari's father and Ringo's father are twins
-Masako's father - could also be Kanba's father?
-Kanba was taken in by Takakura family
-Since Masako and Kanba have different last names - maybe Masako's father and Shoma and Hikari's mother are siblings? (The woman in the first pic has similar eyes to Masako - slightly different colour, but the shape is pretty much the same).

So many questions. When will we get answers?

Look at the scene again, one is standing from another. It can't be a different angle at all. They also look they are communicating to each other.

Kanba also has similar hair to Ringo but also to Natsume so he might come from either family if the adoption theorem holds true to that.

I assumed he meant Masako's grandfather.

And since Masako said she won't go down this path, seems to suggest that both her and her brother and possibly by extension, her maid as well, will be killed off.

Best part was random maid fanservice haha. I guess this is the comic relief episode so I expect shit to go down in the following episodes.

beats me, I never heard or saw it in the show either.. but since everyone somehow seem to understand that Princess of Crystal means Himari being possessed by the Hat (during the Seizon Senryaku's), I use this term too.. especially because it's easily shortened to just PoC :)

Oh, by the way, I don't know if anybody else noticed, but there IS a major turning point in the show starting in the middle of this episode and taking its full effect in the next one:
And the storyboard for ep.17 is done by Ikuhara himself... so it must be something mind-blowing. I wonder if those grey branches have an extra meaning...

I believe Kamba was borrowing from Kiga group (the group originally called Pingforce but renamed to KIGA after the year '95 accident). I also believe Masako's father was also a member of this group. It is unclear whether Masako's dad used Natsume clan's money for the KIGA group.. perhaps he tried but Natsume's granddad figured it out and that's how Masako's dad got kicked out of the house and separated with his children. This theory is proved by the events in that last dream of Masako in this episode: she sees her father in another car, surrounded by and being involved with those same people in black and KIGA lables on their clothes. And the moment later Masako sees Kamba's there as well.

Good call on the elephants that appeared in ep 11 (again related to Natsume), I had been completely forgotten about that.

I thought of that circle arrows too when I saw the logo.
The article was too neatly written and easy to read to be just random. Related to eco-terrorism perhaps (yeah, random nonsense I just came up with xD)?

FroZen109 said:

It's not really Himari that's referred to as PoC, it's her possessed form. And even though that name hasn't been mentioned in the show itself, it's official, as we can see in an official character map that's been around from the beginning of the anime.

I somehow didn't get the impression it was the grandpa he was talking about. There is animosity between two of them (well, at least from granpa's side), so I'm suspecting it's someone else. The most obvious guess would be Masako's mom, but that'd be too obvious plus she hasn't been mentioned so far at all so...

So the person who picked up the diary at the hospital was the maid. Also superhot and ecchi.

The dream sequences and survival strategy were hilarious and a much needed change of mood after the heavy stuff from the last couple of episodes. Unless they somehow totally fuck up the ending this show is going to be in my top 5 anime among the thousand odd that I've seen.

I noticed that curve in the line too. I wonder if those gray lines are possible routes of fate. For example, Masako said the she won't get on that train, so the gray path originating from the ep 16 node would be the path that Sanetoshi wanted Masako to take; but since she's not taking it, we're riding the red line instead.

Now I wonder what Sanetoshi is up to. I thought he was just an observer; he made a bet with Momoka to see if fate really exists, by watching these people race to get the Penguindrum. But now it seems that he's a more active participant in this.

Was Mario being possessed by his grandfather a dream? Or was he really possessed somehow? (like by the sword that the grandfather used?)

The eating blowfish scene made me laugh, with how fast and how much they ate in one go XD
